Texas Motor Speedway – what are we going to do with this place? Today’s race at Texas was pretty much on par for what we have come to expect from a race there. It was very difficult to pass, but there were some pretty big accidents as well. Let’s recap what happened in the Xfinity playoff opener, the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Brandon Jones won the pole for the race. And from the start, it seemed it was going to be Noah Gragson or a Joe Gibbs Racing driver in victory lane. There wasn’t much action for the Playoff drivers until AJ Allmendinger and Brandon Brown got together. This caused a massive wreck involving Landon Cassill, Ryan Sieg, and a few others. AJ Allmendinger won the Regular Season Championship so he had some extra playoff points to lean on.
But as if that wasn’t bad enough, on another restart more playoff drivers ran into trouble. Justin Allgaier and John Hunter Nemechek got together and once again caused a major wreck. This time Brandon Jones, Daniel Hemric, and Sam Mayer all received damage as well as Nemechek, Allgaier, and others. This took out quite a few of the remaining front-running cars.
Noah Gragson then went on to win the race, making it the fourth race in a row he has won, and locked him into the Round of 8. The points look like this:
Noah Gragson ADV
AJ Allmendinger +47
Ty Gibbs. +46
Austin Hill +30
Josh Berry +24
Justin Allgaier +20
Sam Mayer +1
Ryan Sieg +1

Riley Herbst -1
Daniel Hemric -8
Brandon Jones -13
Jeremy Clements -29
The next race for the Xfinity Series is next Saturday, October 1 at Talladega Superspeedway. Every driver will be looking to capitalize on the unpredictability of that style of racing, but Jeremy Clements is the most recent winner at a Superspeedway and has a large deficit to the cutline. It’s going to be chaotic!
Awesome win for Noah Gragson!!! Great job on 4 wins in a row. Feel bad for all the drivers that got caught up in the big crashes. Nemechek and Allgaier incident was not caused by JA it was JHN getting loose. The Xfinity race was the best race of the weekend
