With only 2 races left to decide who is the Championship 4 the Camping World Truck Series heads to the biggest wildcard race of their playoffs, Talladega. Here is a look at the 8 drivers left in the playoffs 2022 season statistics, ranks among drivers in 2022 with ranking through 20 races since the playoffs starts in 2016. We will also highlight notable streaks accomplished through the year and Talladega statistics as well as the only Superspeedway race this year so far, the Daytona race that started the 2022 season.

After a win at Bristol 2 weeks ago Ty Majeski is in the Championship 4, this means he does not have to worry about anything for the next two races except getting injured. This year he has had one of the better seasons of anyone ranking 6th or better in every category. He has done well in the playoffs with a Top 10 in every race and 7 Stage Top 10’s. He is also riding a streak of 5 straight Top 10’s. As far as Talladega there is nothing to go off of as he has never raced here but did finish 7th and lead a good chunk of the Truck race at Daytona this year. The outlook for Majeski this weekend honestly is based on how he feels. With nothing to lose if he wants he can ride around or go for broke and try to lead every lap.

Chandler Smith has had one of the best seasons in the Truck Series this year accumulating 3 Wins and ranking no worse than 5th in the 2022 statistics above (except for Poles). In the playoffs Chandler has done decent but not what his 2022 stats say he should. He does have 3 Top 10’s but only 1 Top 5. As far as Superspeedways he ran upfront at Daytona this year but didn’t come home with a good finish. At Talladega last year he didn’t have a great showing, finishing 19th and not leading a single lap. Overall at Talladega the stats are favorable for him though albeit with only 2 starts its hard to be confident in them. I watch for Chandler to be up front, get Stage Points and a Top 10 if he can avoid the chaos.

Zane Smith has had the best season in the Trucks this year, he ranks 3rd or better in every category I mentioned above except Poles. Two times this year he has had 6 straight Top 10 finishes and in the playoffs has finished in the Top 5 in 3 of the 4 races so far. This year he even won at Daytona to kick off his strong season. But if you’re a Zane Smith fan don’t look at the Talladega stats, they are frightening. He has raced here twice and both times finished 33rd and wrecked out. He is with a new team however and did win at Daytona with them, but this is Talladega. This track does not like Zane and if this keeps up I see another 33rd place for him in store this weekend, but if he stays out of trouble a Top 10 could very much be possible.

Stewart Friesen has had a mediocre to good 2022 season. He has only 2 Top 3’s but 7 Top 5’s. As far as the playoffs go he hasn’t had the best results but has managed 2 Top 10’s and 6 Stage Top 10’s with 40 Stage Points. At Daytona this year he only led 2 laps and finished outside the Top 15. Last year at Talladega he wrecked out and finished 22nd, his worst finish at Talladega. His overall stats show he is decent at Talladega, while he only has 2 Top 10’s he still has an average finish of 13.4. This along with his 6 Stage Top 10’s tells me he hasn’t run terrible here but isn’t great either. If he can avoid the wrecks then I see a Top 10 potentially for Friesen but nothing worse than 20th for sure.

John Hunter Nemechek has had a great season and is the front runner with Zane Smith to win the championship. To show how good his season is, he ranks 3rd or better in every 2022 rank above. He has fast trucks every week as evident by his 6 Poles, 2 of those coming in the playoffs. Even with all of this though he still finds himself below the cutline. He may see Talladega as an opportunity though as he led 50 laps at Daytona in the spring before being caught up in a late wreck, and last year he was so close to winning at Talladega. Nemechek’s overall Talladega stats aren’t incredible but he also has DNF’d in half of his races. So, this weekend for Nemechek if he can avoid the wrecks he will definitely get Stage Points and finish Top 15 and probably even better than that.

Christian Eckes 2022 stats are not extremely consistent, his 2022 ranks are all over the place. He also does not have a Top 5 in the playoffs through 4 races but does have 3 Top 10’s. Some good news for Eckes however is that he finished 3rd at Daytona earlier this year. He only has one start at Talladega so there isn’t much to go off of, but in that start he was running up front until a late wreck. So while there isn’t much to go off of for Eckes, I say he has a good chance to get that 1st playoff Top 5 this year if he can avoid the wrecks.

The 2022 regular season was not what Grant Enfinger had wanted leaving him to make the playoffs by only 34 points. Since the playoffs have started though he has been on fire with a win in the opening race and finishing in the Top 5 all 4 races. Even though he has done so well in the playoffs he still has work to do as he is 7th in the standings. The bad news continues when you see the last two superspeedways Enfinger has wrecked out. The good news is that Talladega he typically runs well at, he only finished outside the Top 20 when he has wrecked. He doesn’t usually do well in Stages but is the only driver in the playoffs with a win here. As long as Enfinger finishes then I see him getting few, if any, Stage Points but for sure a Top 15. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he wins.

Ben Rhodes’ 2022 season hasn’t been great. He has done a good job of finishing Top 3 but between 4th and 10th not so much. The same can be said for his Stages this year, he’s been good at winning them but other than that he doesn’t get great Stage Points. The playoffs have been even worse, besides his 2nd place finish at IRP he hasn’t finished inside the Top 10. This probably explains why he is last in the standings. In good news he finished 2nd at Daytona this year and led a lot of laps at Talladega last year. He has done a good job at getting Stage Points here at Talladega and the only times he finished outside the Top 20 is when he doesn’t finish. Bottomline I see Rhodes getting Stage Points and if he stays out of trouble getting a Top 15 but probably not better than that this weekend.
