Last week, we saw a fantastic finish in which A.J. Allmendinger nosed out Sam Mayer to win at Talladega and clinch his way into the Round of 8. Now the Xfinity Series heads to the Charlotte Roval where we could be in for another great finish. Outlook
Noah Gragson’s win streak came to an end at Talladega, but that doesn’t take away from the fact he ranks 1st or 2nd in most 2022 ranks above. Noah is having one of the better Xfinity seasons since the playoffs started in 2016. His playoffs have started out good too, as he has a Top 10 in both playoff races and now has 5 straight Top 10’s. His road course stats have been very good as well, only being bested by A.J. Allmendinger. Outlook
Despite ranking no worse than 4th in any of the 2022 ranks above Ty Gibbs has not had the best season this year, which is kind of crazy when you think about it. At Talladega last week Gibbs was quiet and ended up with no laps led but did get a Top 10. Gibbs beat Kyle Larson at Road America to win this year, but overall on road courses this year Gibbs has only been okay. He has led lots of laps but only has 1 Top 5, the win at Road America. Gibbs does have 3 Top 10’s however, so like I said his stats are okay. He had his lone start at the Roval last year in which he finished 21st although he did finish in the Top 10 of both stages. Gibbs is almost a lock to make the next round of the playoffs, so I see Gibbs trying to get Stage 1 points to officially lock himself in. As far as race finish I see Gibbs with a nice Top 10, but I don’t see him getting better than 5th.

On road courses this year Hill has been decent he has 2 Top 3’s and 4 Top 10’s, but very little Stage Points. As far as the Roval he only has 2 starts (both with Hattori Racing) and a best finish of 18th which came last year. I see Hill having a better run than that this year and a similar strategy to what I see Ty Gibbs having, getting Stage Points will probably be the 21 teams primary objective. If that is the case I see lots of Stage Points and probably a race finish around 10th.

Outlook
Josh Berry is in what I would consider the 2nd tier of the Xfinity Series as far as the 2022 season stats go. His stats have continued to stay in order as the playoffs have begun, having 0 Top 3’s but 1 Top 5 and 2 Top 10’s. The 2 Top 10’s are part of a 5 race Top 10 streak. The low point for Berry in the playoffs is the fact he has only 6 Stage Points and is probably the reason why he is only 27 points above the cutline. He has done alright on road courses this year having an average finish of 11.4 and 3 Top 10’s. This season is all we have to go off of as Berry has not run a race at the Roval, but based on this season I see his first start here going well. I see Berry with a few Stage Points and then finishing somewhere near the Top 10, either just inside or just outside it and making it to the Round of 8.

Outlook
Sam Mayer came oh so close to getting his first Xfinity Series win and locking himself into the Round of 8 last week at Talladega. While he didn’t win Mayer still got his best finish in the Xfinity Series of 2nd. This race has to be the highlight of what has been a good season for Mayer as he has 10 Top 5’s and 16 Top 10’s. Mayer has 2 Top 10’s in the playoffs but only 7 Stage Points, which is why he is 7th in points only 12 above the cutline. Mayer does have 4 straight Top 10’s however and if he can continue that should make it to the next round. His 2022 road course stats say that is a definite possibility as he has 3 Top 10’s this year however, the other 2 races have been outside the Top 20. Sam Mayer came oh so close to getting his first Xfinity Series win and locking himself into the Round of 8 last week at Talladega. I think most people expected more from the 2021 Xfinity Series champion. He ranks no better than 9th in the 2022 ranks above besides Stage Wins and Poles. Clements only has 5 Top 10’s this year and none in the playoffs, the good news is though that 2 of those Top 10’s came on road courses.
