Welcome, this is the fourth post of a week and a half or so series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Truck series has done in the 2022 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Truck Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course, superspeedway (drafting tracks) and dirt track statistics. Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Next up is a hodgepodge of different Toyota teams, Halmar Friesen Racing driver, Hattori Racing Enterprises drivers, Hill Motorsports driver and On Point Motorsports driver.

Summary
Stewart Friesen had a pretty good year. Both his 9.87 average finish and 9 Top 5’s were 5th or better in the 2022 ranks above, but unfortunately those were the only ones other than Stage Top 10’s. Friesen’s average finish was better than 10.0 because he was good at finishing 4th and 5th as he had 9 Top 5’s, but only 3 Top 3’s and 13 Top 10’s. The playoffs brought more of the same as his average finish in the 7 races was 10.0 and he had 3 Top 5’s, but only 1 Top 3 with 4 Top 10’s. As far as his track stats Friesen had 3 track style averages in the 14’s, 3 in the 8’s and one that was 4.5. This 4.5 average finish was at his best tracks this year, Small tracks. In the 2 races at Small tracks this year Friesen finished 4th and 5th while getting 4.75 Stage Pts Per Stage, and his 4.5 average was 3rd best at Small tracks this year. Friesen’s worst tracks were Superspeedways where even though he never finished outside the Top 20, he also only finished in the Top 15 once (a 6th at Atlanta). Even though Friesen’s season this year wasn’t flashy it was still pretty good for the smaller team, next year as they branch out totally on their own I think it will be a bit of a struggle but still see him sneaking into the playoffs.

Summary
Tyler Ankrum had an okay season, but when you consider that the 16 Hattori truck made the playoffs and won at least 2 races in the last 4 season it was pretty disappointing. Even with 8 Top 10’s and only 2 DNF’s, Ankrum couldn’t muster up a single Top 5 this year. In total he had a 14.57 average finish which isn’t bad considering none of his 2022 ranks above were better than 10th. Even though Ankrum’s playoff average finish of 11.29 was better than his overall 2022 average the playoffs stats were about the same. In the playoffs he got 2 Top 10’s in 7 races and 18 Stage Pts but that’s it. In terms of tracks his best tracks were Short tracks this year where he averaged a 10.0 finish in 4 races with 2 Top 10’s and never finished outside the Top 15. His bad tracks the 2 Dirt tracks though where he had 1 Top 10, but his other finish was 31st leading to a 20.0 average finish. Furthermore at Dirt tracks Ankrum only accumulated 0.25 Stage Pts Per Stage, showing that he didn’t run near the front much. Altogether Ankrum’s season was mediocre, but with the recent success of the 16 truck his season was disappointing. Next year I see Ankrum getting at least 1 Top 5, but he definitely needs to make the playoffs to be in the 16 in 2024.

Summary
Chase Purdy’s season wasn’t all that purdy having 1 DNQ to only 2 Top 10’s this year. The good news is that his average finish wasn’t that bad as his average finish of 17.73 ranked 17th of 31 drivers to compete in 10+ races this year. More bad news though is that the stages weren’t good to him only getting 5 Stage Top 10’s and 26 Stage Points in the 22 races he ran. The playoffs were even more bad news as Purdy’s 19.71 average finish ranked 25th of 41 drivers to compete in 3+ playoff races. The 0 DNF’s and only 1 Stage Top 10 in the playoffs prove it wasn’t bad luck to get him this bad average either. Most tracks were not kind to Purdy but ironically Superspeedways, where his DNQ happened, were his best. At these tracks Purdy averaged a 10.5 finish in his 2 races with 1 Top 5 and 2 Top 15’s. His worst tracks were Short tracks which unfortunately made up 1/6th of the schedule. At Short tracks Purdy had a best finish of 14th, a 25.0 average finish and finished outside the Top 20 in 3 of the 4 races. In total Purdy’s season wasn’t that good, but was apparently good enough to get with KBM in 2023. Next year I hope for his sake he makes the playoffs and contends for race wins because with KBM equipment that’s the expectation.

Summary
Timmy Hill’s 21.43 average finish this year isn’t terrible for a small team, but getting 0 Top 10’s and only 2 Top 15’s this year isn’t good either. Hill’s main reason for having such a decent average finish is that he had 0 DNF’s. This is really the only stats there are to say anything about for Hill and the playoffs aren’t much prettier. Hill had a 22.14 average finish in the 7 race playoff and that’s it as he didn’t even have any Stage Points to speak of in the playoffs. With that said I’ll move on to the track stats. Hill’s best tracks were his only tracks where he had an average finish under 20.0, having a 17.0 average at Superspeedways. This comes as no surprise as his 2 best finishes came at Superspeedways, 14th and 15th, and he only had one finish outside the Top 20. Hill’s worst tracks were Short tracks where in 4 races this year his average finish was 24.25 and he had 3 races end in him finishing outside the Top 20. Overall when taking into consideration Hill was running for his own team and was his first full-time Truck season it wasn’t awful, still more than 2 Top 15’s should be the expectation. Next year assuming he’s back in Trucks I hope we’ll see better results, however this year wasn’t too promising.

Tate Fogleman only ran 12 races this year and boy were those races incredibly underwhelming. Fogleman accumulated a 23.08 average finish with 2 DNF’s and only 1 Top 15 finish, he also did not finish in the Top 10 in any of the 24 stages he competed in. There isn’t anything to say when it comes to the playoffs since he didn’t compete in them, so on to the track stats we go! Fogleman ran mostly 1 race at the different styles and this led to his best tracks being Road Courses. In his one Road Course start this year Fogleman finished 18th. His worst tracks were Dirt tracks where in the only race he started on a Dirt track he finished 28th.
