Welcome, this is the fifth post of a week and a half or so series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Truck series has done in the 2022 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Truck Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course, superspeedway (drafting tracks) and dirt track statistics. Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Next up is two Chevy organizations that have half or more of their drivers not returning next year, GMS Racing and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Drivers.

Summary
Looking at Grant Enfinger’s 12.13 average finish you’d think his season was so so, but when you see that he had 1 Win, 4 Top 3’s and 7 Top 5’s it seems pretty good. The problem for Enfinger was that he only had 5 finishes outside the Top 5 but inside the Top 10. Even Enfinger’s stage stats aren’t that bad as both his Stage Top 10’s and Stage Points are 8th in the 2022 ranks above. The playoffs were where he really shined though as he got his 1 Win in the playoffs and had an average finish of 9.0. Enfinger was able to achieve this average even with only 5 Top 10’s because 4 of those Top 10’s were Top 5’s, in fact his 4 playoff Top 5’s ranked behind only Zane Smith. Enfinger’s best tracks this year were Short tracks and not just because his only win came at a Short track. In the 4 Short tracks this year he got 3 Top 5’s, a worst finish of 8th and an average finish of 4.25 that ranked 3rd best. Superspeedway’s were just the opposite for Enfinger though as his best finish was 12th and in 2 of the 3 races he finished outside of the Top 20. Overall Enfinger had a quiet but good season and went under the radar until the playoffs, next year I see Enfinger being better than this year and I think could make the Championship 4.

Summary
Jack Wood’s 2022 season was bad and when you consider that his teammate won a race and made the playoffs Wood’s season was very bad. To illustrate just how bad it was Wood only had 1 Top 15 all year (a 13th at Atlanta) and his 25.17 average finish was tied for 4th worst of anyone with 10+ starts. It didn’t help that he was tied for the most DNF’s (7) this year as well. In the playoffs Wood’s best finish was 19th at Talladega with every other finish being outside the Top 20 leading to a 24.86 average finish. In terms of tracks Wood was bad at all of them as his best average finish at any track style was 21.5 at Dirt tracks. His best tracks however were Superspeedways where he had an average finish of 21.67 with 1 Top 15 and only 1 finish outside the Top 20. Wood’s worst tracks were unfortunately Short tracks where in 4 races his best finish was 21st and his average finish was 26.0. All of this said it’s easy to see why I gave Wood an F for this year as it was pretty bad, but apparently was good enough to be at KBM next year. He better hope he does better next year as expectations will be high, and if he doesn’t do well then his tenure at KBM may be a short one.

Summary
Derek Kraus had a decent season, similar to Tyler Ankrums’, as he had an average finish of 15.17 and 7 Top 10’s but 0 Top 5’s. One nice thing is that he recorded 2 Poles this year and the 11th most Stage Points with 103. In the playoffs Kraus was okay as his average finish was better at 13.14, but he recorded only 1 solitary Top 10 with only 15 Stage Points in 7 races. Kraus’ best tracks this year were Small tracks where in 2 races he recorded 1 Top 10 and had a worst finish finish of 11th, giving him a 9.0 average finish. In terms of his worst tracks though Kraus struggled at Intermediates where in 8 races he only recorded 1 Top 10. In addition Kraus only had 4 Top 15’s with 3 finishes outside the Top 20. All of this lead to an average finish of 18.25, which was tied for the 21st best average finish at Intermediates. All in all Kraus’ stats and 11th place finish in points isn’t bad, but apparently was bad enough to get him kicked from his ride at MHR. I don’t know what Kraus has planned for next year but if he can get a ride similar to or better than MHR then I see another decent season ahead for Kraus.

Summary
Colby Howard’s one and only season with HMR wasn’t terrible as he got 3 Top 10’s and had a 19.39 average finish with 17 Stage Points and 3 DNF’s. Still, his season wasn’t much better than mediocre either as is evident by his 17th place points finish. The 7 race playoffs for Howard went better though as 2 of his 3 Top 10’s this year came in the playoffs and led him to having an 18.43 average finish. This average could have been even better too if he didn’t get taken out by Carson Hocevar at IRP leading to his only DNF in the playoffs. In terms of track styles Howard was mostly consistent as 4 of the 7 styles average finishes are between 17.33 and 19.0. His best tracks were Dirt tracks though where he had a 14.0 average finish, a best finish of 12th and worst of 16th. On the contrary Short tracks were awful for Howard as he had a 25.5 average finish with 0 Top 15’s and 3 finishes outside of the Top 20 with 1 DNF. Overall Howard’s 2022 season wasn’t too bad and I think he is definitely deserving of at least a decent ride next year, but I guess we’ll see where he lands for 2023.
