Welcome where ya been! This is the eighth and last post of a week and a half series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Truck series has done in the 2022 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Truck Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course, superspeedway (drafting tracks) and dirt track statistics. Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Last but not least is the organization that had 3 Top 10’s and 3 individual teams, Young’s Motorsports drivers.

Summary
Kaz Grala ran in every NASCAR Top 3 Series this year on a part-time basis, but trucks was where he ran the most races. Unfortunately for Grala his 12 races in the trucks were not great as he acquired only 1 Top 10 but he did have a modest average finish of 19.67. This average was thanks to Grala getting 7 Top 20’s in his 12 starts and only having 1 DNF. A fun little fact about Grala’s playoffs is that in his last 3 races he finished 18th in them all, this together with his 2 other playoff races gave him a 19.2 average finish which isn’t too bad. When looking at his track stats it is easy to see where Grala had most of his success. In 3 Road Course races this year he got his lone Top 10 and didn’t finish worse than 14th. In fact his average finish of 11.67 was the 8th best average this year on Road Courses. Grala’s worst tracks were Dirt tracks where he posted a 26th place finish in both races this year. All in all it was an okay season for Grala and when mixed with his Xfinity season was good enough to land him a full-time Xfinity ride. Next year in his first full-time Xfinity season I see struggles for Grala but ultimately a Top 20 points finish with 1 or 2 Top 10’s maybe.

Summary
Jesse Little competed in his last NASCAR Top 3 Series race this year. In his last season Little was able to get 1 Top 10 in the opening race at Daytona and amassed a 20.77 average finish in the 13 races he raced in. In the playoffs Little ran 3 races and while he didn’t get a Top 10 he did have 1 Top 15 finish. His average finish in the playoffs was 22.67 which ranked 30th of the 41 drivers who ran at least 3 playoff races. Superspeedways were Little’s bright spot this year and best tracks as he got 2 of his 3 best finishes on them this year. In the 2 races he finished 6th and 15th which is an average finish of 10.5. In fact that average finish was tied for the 7th best at Superspeedways this year. As far as his bad tracks go the rest of the track style average finishes were 20.0 or worse, his worst tracks were Big tracks though. In the one Big track race Little ended up with a 26th place finish. Overall Little’s last season was a little lackluster, but when looking at how Young’s Motorsports did it wasn’t too bad. If you read this Jesse I hope you enjoy retirement and hope we still get to see you at the track in some way.

I’ll admit I like Spencer Boyd he seems like a good guy and brings sponsors to the sport, but this year was terrible. In his 4th season with Young’s Motorsports Boyd got 0 Top 10’s, 1 Top 15, and 3 Top 20’s in 22 starts this year. Altogether Boyd’s average finish was 27.59 which is his worst in his 4 seasons and ranked 30th out of 31 drivers to race 10+ races this year. To add to this Boyd had 7 DNF’s which was tied for the most this year. If you’re looking for good news don’t look at the playoffs as Boyd was atrocious in them, he had 1 DNQ and a best finish of 32nd in the 6 races he qualified for. Boyd’s average finish in the playoffs was 34.33 which ranked last among drivers who made 3+ playoff starts. When looking at the good tracks for Boyd it is easy to see that Superspeedways were his best as he had a 15.5 average finish and got his best finish of the season (an 11th at Daytona). His worst is harder to see, Boyd’s average finish of 34.25 at Short tracks and 32.0 on Small tracks both rank last of drivers who made 2+ starts on those tracks. Boyd’s year was the worst of anyone as far as I am concerned since Blaine Perkins was a rookie and Boyd is a 4 year vet. Next year I expect more from him than what he did this year, but honestly not too much more.
