Welcome, this is the fifth post of a week and a half or so series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series has done in the 2022 season (min. 15 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or car manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Xfinity Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course and superspeedway (drafting tracks). Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Next up is a hodgepodge of Ford teams, Stewart-Haas Racing driver, RSS Racing drivers and SS-Green Light Racing drivers.

Summary
Riley Herbst’s season was his best season yet in the Xfinity Series. His 13.03 average finish ranked 7th this year among those with 15+ starts and his 20 Top 10’s were tied for the 6th most this year. The big problem for why Herbst didn’t get farther in the playoffs is his stages as both his Stage Points and Stage T10’s ranked 10th. In the playoffs Herbst was pretty good with 2 Top 5’s, 4 Top 10’s and a 12.0 average finish, but again stages were the problem as he only had 20 Stage Points in the playoffs. In terms of track styles Herbst was spectacular at Short tracks racking up 3 Top 5’s and 4 Top 10’s with a worst finish of 6th and an average finish of 4.75 in 4 races. He was also good at Superspeedways where in 6 races he finish in the Top 15 each time leading to an average finish of 8.33. Herbst’s worst tracks were Small tracks as he had a 21.0 average finish on them with only 2 Top 10’s in 4 races, the other 2 races Herbst DNF’d from. All in all I’d qualify this as a good season for Herbst but he needs to show more improvement, especially in Wins, next year in order to keep moving forward with his career.

Summary
Ryan Sieg made the Xfinity playoffs this year which is a win in and of itself for this small team. The year as a whole wasn’t bad, but could’ve been better though. Ryan had a 17.03 average finish with 2 Top 5’s and 13 Top 10’s, but also 7 DNF’s and only 70 Stage Points. If Ryan would have finished more races I think his stats would have been a lot more impressive. In the playoffs Ryan nearly made the Round of 8 but just missed out. Overall in the playoffs though Ryan was not so good having a 20.86 average finish which ranked 21st best. The fact that Ryan had only 3 Top 10’s to 2 DNF’s in 7 races is the reason why the average finish is the way it is. Ryan’s best tracks this year were Superspeedways where he picked up his only Top 5’s of the season and 4 Top 10’s in 6 races with an average finish of 11.17. His worst tracks were Intermediates where he struggled mightily, Ryan accumulated only 2 Top 10’s and 4 Top 15’s while finishing outside the Top 20 5 times in 10 races. All in all making the playoffs for Ryan and this small team is huge, but there is still room for improvement. If Ryan can lessen the DNF’s, do better in stages and run like he did this year I could definitely see him making the Round of 8 next year.

Summary
Kyle Sieg only race 17 races this year but in those 17 races he had an average finish of 23.4 with 1 Top 10 and only 2 DNF’s. The lack of DNF’s is a good sign as it is important for a young driver like Kyle so he has experience. Unfortunately for him the playoffs were not so good as in only 3 races he had 0 Top 10’s to 1 DNF. His average finish in those 3 races was 27.67 with a best of 22nd in the season finale. When looking at Kyle’s track stats it is no surprise to see that Superspeedways were his best tracks. In 5 Superspeedway starts this year Kyle had a 17.8 average finish with a best of 10th and worst of 24th. Another nice thing about his Superspeedway stats is that he had only 2 finishes outside the Top 20 and had no DNF’s. His worst tracks were Short tracks where in 1 race he had his worst finish of the year (37th) and one of his 2 DNF’s this year. All in all Kyle wasn’t too good but he was good at finishing races. Next year assuming he is back with the family team I could see him running the same, and maybe even have a better average finish if he runs more races.

Summary
Joe Graf Jr. was not that good this year. With a 27.0 average finish (ranked 30th out of 31 drivers with 15+ starts) and only 1 Top 10 to 6 DNF’s in 28 races the stats pretty much speak for themselves. In the playoffs Graf didn’t have many stats to speak of as he had a 25.67 average finish and a best finish of 18th in 6 races. There is really nothing else to say about Graf’s season so I’ll move to his track stats. His worst tracks were Intermediates and Road courses where his 30.38 and 29.5 average finishes were worst among those with 15+ starts this season. In his 12 races on these styles of tracks Graf had just 1 Top 20 finish, an 18th at Texas in the playoffs, and 5 of his 6 DNF’s came on these tracks as well. On the contrary Graf’s best tracks were Big tracks. Even though his Top 10 this year came on a Superspeedway Graf had 1 Top 15 at Big tracks in 2 starts and an average finish of 19.0, which was his best average finish at any track style. Overall Graf’s season was bad. Next year if he returns there is nothing telling me that it will be any different than this year, but if he can lessen his DNF’s I bet that average finish will be better.

David Starr’s season was one of the worst there was this year. Starr did not record a single Top 10 and had 4 DNQ’s, but what saved him in my grading was getting 1 Stage Top 10 and 6 Stage Points. His average finish of 26.89 barely bettered his teammate Joe Graf Jr. above, and his 4 DNF’s in 19 races (21%) is the same percentage as Graf. In the playoffs Starr had an even worse average finish at 28.5 with 1 DNF and a best finish of 21st. At different tracks Starr was consistently bad as none of his average finishes were above 25.33. That 25.33 average finish was at Short tracks where he also got his lone Stage Top 10 and was his best track type, his best finish however came at a Small track (11th at Loudon). Starr’s worst tracks were Big tracks were he had a 31.0 average finish in 2 starts, this was the worst average of any driver with 2+ starts on Big tracks this year. Altogether Starr’s season was very bad not even recording a Top 10 and if he is back next year I don’t see him doing much better, if better at all.
