Welcome, this is the sixth post of a week and a half or so series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series has done in the 2022 season (min. 15 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or car manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Xfinity Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course and superspeedway (drafting tracks). Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Next up is two small teams that have been around for a good while, Jeremy Clements Racing driver and JD Motorsports drivers.

Summary
Jeremy Clements got a win at the Daytona night race in August and it is a good thing he did or else his stats would have been pretty bad. Overall Clements had a 20.76 average finish with 2 Top 5’s, only 5 Top 10’s and 18 Stage Points. This isn’t too bad for a small family run team, but the Top 10’s and Stage Points I feel were lacking. Once in the playoffs Clements was a non-contender having a 22.14 average finish with 0 Top 10’s and 0 Stage Top 10’s. In terms of tracks success Clements best tracks were not Superspeedways, it was in fact Short tracks. At Short tracks this year Clements averaged a 15.75 finish, which was better than the likes of Sheldon Creed, Landon Cassill and Myatt Snider. While he only recorded 1 Top 10 and 1 Top 15 at these tracks the secret to his success was consistency, Clements didn’t finish outside the Top 20 in any of the 4 Short track races. Big tracks were the exact opposite for Clements as he only had 1 Top 20 in 3 races and an average finish of 26.67. In total this season was not as good as Clements has been, but he did get a win which is good. Next year if Clements can be more consistent I could see him battling for a playoff spot even without a win.

Summary
Bayley Currey wasn’t super impressive this year as he had a 24.27 average finish with only 1 Stage Top 10, 1 Top 10 and 5 DNF’s. But as I’ll discuss further down it is a little more impressive when you consider what his good and bad tracks were. Fortunately Currey’s playoff average finish was better than his overall average as he had a 23.57 average finish in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Currey that’s his only playoff stats to speak of. Now to Currey’s track stats. It surprised me that on Road Courses and Superspeedways Currey had 0 Top 15’s, but on the other 4 track styles Currey had 5 Top 10’s. The best of these tracks were Small tracks as he had an average finish of 21.25 with 1 Top 10 and only 1 finish outside the Top 20 in 4 races. Currey also ran well at Intermediates where he had 3 Top 15’s, but unfortunately also finished outside the Top 20 in half of the 10 Intermediate races. On the other hand his worst tracks were Big tracks where in 3 starts his best finish was 26th and his average finish was 30.0. All in all Currey was not too shabby, especially considering the car he is in. Next year in the 4 car I can see Currey getting more Top 10’s and Top 15’s than he did this year.

Summary
Ryan Vargas’ overall 2022 stats above look similar to his teammate Bayley Currey above. His average finish this year was 25.42 and he had 1 Top 10 with 3 DNF’s. The reason his grade is lower however is because of which tracks it was he was good at, which were the opposite of his teammate, and his playoffs. In the playoffs Vargas only ran 4 races but his average finish was a measly 27.75. As far as the tracks go like I mentioned above Vargas’ best and worst tracks were opposite his teammate. Vargas’ best tracks were Superspeedways where in 6 starts he averaged a 17.83 finish and got his best finish ever, a 6th at the Daytona night race. In addition to the Top 10 he got another Top 15 finish at Atlanta to give him 2 Top 15’s at Superspeedways to only 2 finishes outside the Top 20. Vargas’ worst tracks were Short tracks where he had a 30.0 average finish with a best of 25th in 3 starts. Overall Vargas had a not so good season when you take out the Superspeedway races which is why his grade is the way it is. I don’t know his plans for next year but based on just this year I don’t see him getting a much better ride than he had this year.
