Welcome, this is the seventh post of a week and a half or so series reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Truck series has done in the 2022 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-5 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2022 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2022 with season ranking since the Truck Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2022 short track (under 1.0 mile), small track (1.0-1.3 mile), intermediate track (1.3-1.5 mile), big track (2-2.5 mile), road course, superspeedway (drafting tracks) and dirt track statistics. Then I will give a brief summary/review, finally ending with a grade A+ thru F-.
Next up is four basically one truck organizations, Rackley W.A.R. Driver, Henderson Motorsports Driver, AM Racing Driver, and CR7 Motorsports Driver.

Summary
I think a lot of people expected Matt DiBenedetto to come into the Truck Series this year and be pretty competitive given his Cup background, but unfortunately for him it was a bit of a struggle. Although DiBenedetto got a win late in the year at Talladega that was his only Top 5 on the season which gave him a 16.22 average finish, but in good news he did get 7 Top 10’s to only 2 DNF’s. The playoffs were where DiBenedetto got his win and it’s a good thing he did. That win was his only Top 10 in the 7 races and what’s worse is he only got 1 Stage Top 10 also. At the end of the playoffs DiBenedetto ended up with an average finish of 15.57 which was only 18th best. DiBenedetto’s track stats aren’t too bad except at Dirt tracks where he posted a 24.5 average finish in the 2 dirt races with only 1 Top 5 and less than 1 Stage Pt Per Stage. As for his best tracks it should come as no surprise that they were Superspeedways. At these style tracks DiBenedetto got 2 Top 10’s in 3 races including his long awaited first NASCAR win. Overall DieBenedetto had an okay first season in the Truck Series and being with Rackley W.A.R again next year will only help his 2023 season be better than this year.

Summary
Parker Kligerman only ran 12 races this year but in those 12 races he was impressive getting 1 Win, 4 Top 5’s and 8 Top 10’s leading to a 9.17 average finish. In the playoffs Kligerman ran only 4 races but once again impressed. The 4 races he ran produced only 1 Top 5, a 3rd at Bristol, but also 3 Top 10’s with a worst finish of 11th. All of this together gave Kligerman an 8.0 average finish, but the news isn’t all good. In the playoffs he only got 2 Stage Points meaning that he didn’t run near the front much. Now back to good news, all of Kligerman’s track style average finishes were under 10.0 except Intermediates. His worst tracks however I say were Short tracks where in 2 races he had a best of 3rd, but his other finish was 16th. As for Kligerman’s best tracks I’d say they were Road Courses and not just because he got his win there. In the 3 Road Course races Kligerman had a 9.0 average finish with 2 Top 10’s and led 30.32% of laps he ran on them. In whole Kligerman’s year was impressive and good enough to land him a full-time ride in the Xfinity Series. Next year I see a decent year but also struggles ending in him being near the cutline for the playoffs.

Austin Wayne Self got out to a fast start this year getting 2 Top 10’s and 3 Top 15’s in the first 3 races, unfortunately for Self that fast start didn’t last as in his last 14 races he only got one more Top 15 finish. Self ended up with a 22.29 average finish and more DNF’s (3) than Top 10’s (2). In the playoffs Self was pretty much nonexistent near the Top 10 as is proof by his 0 Top 10’s and 0 Stage T10’s in the 5 races he ran. As far as the different track styles Self’s best tracks were Superspeedways. In the 3 Superspeedway races Self got 1 Top 10, 2 Top 15’s, 0.83 Stage Points Per Stage, and only 1 finish outside the Top 15. This got him a 17.67 average finish which was his best average of any track style. As far as his worst tracks I’m throwing out his Dirt track race since he got stuck together with Matt DiBenedetto giving him a last place finish, this makes his worst tracks Short tracks. In 4 Short track races Self had a best finish of 19th and a 24.25 average finish with only 1 DNF. Altogether Self’s season wasn’t too good, but props to him for missing Sonoma for the birth of his child. Next year assuming he’s back with the 22 I see him doing better than this year with a Top 20 points finish.

Summary
Blaine Perkins first Truck Series season was rough to say the least, Perkins only recorded 1 Top 20 finish, an 18th at Nashville. His average finish of 27.77 was the worst average of any driver who competed in 10+ races this year, and his 6 DNF’s were the 4th most this year. In the playoffs Perkins wasn’t much better as he recorded a 27.43 average finish with a best finish of 22nd, but in good news he only had 1 DNF so he did better at finishing the races. In terms of track style stats Perkins was bad at all of them as none of his average finishes were better than 23.5. As bad as this is though his best tracks were indeed the tracks where he had the 23.5 average finish, Small tracks. In the 2 Small track races Perkins recorded a 22nd and 25th place finish. As bad as that is Perkins worst tracks were even worse. At Short tracks he had 1 DNQ and in the 3 races he did qualify for he finished 26th or worse which ended up getting him a 29.33 average finish. This rookie year for Perkins was bad and definitely not what he was hoping for as he was the only driver with 10+ starts to record 0 Top 15’s. I’m not sure what his plans are for next year, but I’m sure his 2023 won’t be as bad as his 2022 was.
