Pit Pass Network presents
PPN Fan of the Month
December 2022
PPN is proud to present our next Fan of the Month! Meet Cory Conway, our December 2022 Fan of the Month.
Cory follows us on Twitter (as any good race fan should) and was kind enough to share some of his collection with us for this month. Cory is a 28-year-old NASCAR fan from Pennsylvania and a Die Hard (pun intended) Earnhardt family fan. Just check his answers to our get-to-know-you questions for proof.
How long have you been a NASCAR fan and what got you into it?
Since the late 1990s. Fondest memories come from watching Dale Earnhardt Sr. on Sundays with my dad.
Who is your favorite current NASCAR driver and why?
Jeffrey Earnhardt. His commitment to his sponsors and his fans are second to none.
Who is your favorite retired NASCAR driver and why?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. because his impacts on the sport reach far beyond his accomplishments on track as a driver.
What is your all-time favorite NASCAR moment or race?
Watching Jeffrey Earnhardt win the pole for spring Talladega Xfinity race from pit road 2022.
Is there a unique story behind a piece of memorabilia that you own?
I own the left rear quarter panel from Jeffrey Earnhardt’s 2022 Daytona car. This was my first time at Daytona, and I had my picture taken with him next to the car where the quarter panel was visible in the photo.
What is your favorite piece in your collection? Why is it your favorite?
Josh Berry Martinsville 2022 tire. I purchased this at the JR Motorsports shop over Memorial Day weekend 2022 and was lucky enough to meet Dale Jr. to have him sign it.
About how many items are in your collection?
25-30
What is one item that you really want to add to your collection?
Toyota Supra front bumper
BONUS QUESTION: What did you think of the 2022 Cup season?
While the Next Gen has its safety concerns, and something left to be desired out of its short track package, this season has been worth writing home about. From a competition standpoint, it was exciting watching so many drivers realistically vying for a chance at the checkered flag, specifically at the intermediate tracks. Overall, a very fun season, one that I was glad to watch my first Daytona 500 in person with a rookie winner in Austin Cindric.
Thanks for sharing your awesome collection with us, Cory! I know all your fellow Earnhardt fans will appreciate your responses, too.
