Outside the Track- Auto Club
Have we all recovered from the high that was the Daytona 500? Huge congratulations to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and everyone at JTG Daugherty Racing!
Next up we go all the way across the country and roll into Fontana, CA for the 1st race of the west coast swing. Who else is sad to watch the end of the 2 mile racetrack? (Sad face) I hope it puts on a killer show so the powers that be reconsider the decision to turn it into a short track.
If you’re heading out to Fontana this weekend for the races, I sure do hope the weather report gets better! Rain, rain, go away! Sunny or not here are some things to do outside the racetrack if you find yourself with some extra time.
Less than 30 minutes from the racetrack you will find the NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, CA. The museum’s mission is to celebrate the impact of motorsports on American culture. There are permanent and changing exhibits as well as a HUGE collection of cars. You can find more info here: https://nhramuseum.org/
Another good option to fill your time is the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, CA. Only 16 miles from the racetrack- this is a great choice for aviation lovers. The museum houses close to 100 aircraft- planes used during various wars, 1 of a kind aircraft and rare gems that have been fully restored. Â You can read all about it here: https://www.planesoffame.org/
If you are the true adventure type, 45 minutes from Fontana is Mt. San Antonio mountain in Wrightwood,CA. The highest peak in Los Angeles County, this hike is not for the faint of heart. If you make it to the top, the views are spectacular.
If you’re looking to refuel after your hike (more power to you!) or a long day at the racetrack we have a few options for you, all located in Fontana:
Billy J’s Restaurant- American comfort food serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Taqueria Viva Villa- Mexican in California, enough said.
In-N-Out Burger because when in California, do as the Californians do.
