In COTA last week we saw Kyle Busch make a heck of run late after his bad pit strategy call. It still wasn’t enough to catch Zane Smith though as he collected his 2nd win of the season and 2nd in a row at COTA. This week the Trucks stay in Texas and go to Texas Motor Speedway for their 5th race of the season. I have picked 8 notable drivers to look at, 1 based on the 2023 point standings, 2 based on 2023 stats, 2 based on Intermediate stats, 1 based on the last Texas race and 2 based on their overall Texas stats. Here is a look at those 8 notable drivers 2023 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2023 as well as ranking through 4 races since the Playoffs started in 2016. However, the best stat for Majeski are his stages where, even without a Stage Win, he has 7 Stage T10’s (T1st best) and 43 Stage Pts (2nd most). This success will probably continue this weekend as in the last 9 Intermediate races Majeski has 1 Win, 6 Top 5’s, 8 Top 10’s, and his worst finish is only 13th. Furthermore his 5.78 Avg. Driver Rating as well at 103.03. One great stat for Rhodes this year is that he has spent 93.37% of his laps in the Top 15 and has achieved a Top 10 in 7 of the 8 stages. However he hasn’t been finishing too well in them as he only has 31 Stage Pts. The Stage Pts may improve this weekend though as in the last 9 Intermediate races Rhodes has 4.89 Stage Pts Per Stage with 4 Stage Wins. In addition he has ran 88% of his laps in the Top 15 but he only has 4 Top 10 finishes and a 15.22 Avg. Finish (16th best) with a 92.31 Avg. Driver Rating (11th best). Christian Eckes is notable because of his outstanding numbers here at Texas. Coming off the win at Atlanta Eckes DNF’d last week at COTA to finish 30th. This was his first finish out of the Top 10 this year and plummeted his Avg. Finish to 10.0, but this and his 101.18 Avg. Driver Rating still rank 5th best. Helping Eckes get these numbers is his 2 Top 3 finishes and 3 Stage Wins in just 8 stages. These successful numbers may get even better after this weekend as in the last 9 Intermediate races Eckes has a 9.44 Avg. Finish with 7 Top 10’s and 3.67 Stage Pts Per Stage. Even better is his Avg. Driver Rating of 102.43, 5th best, and the fact that he’s ran 93% of his laps in the Top 15. The only bad news is that he has just 3 Top 5’s and if he’s not finishing Top 10 he’s finishing outside the Top 15. Back to good news, Texas was Eckes’ best of the 9 Intermediate races as he finished 2nd last year with the 2nd best Driver Rating at 124.8. In addition Eckes led 27% of the race and ran all 149 laps in the Top 15. This is typical of him here as in his 3 races he’s DNF’d once but finished 2nd twice, and he’s never completed a lap running outside the Top 15. To that point Eckes has led 20% of his laps here, has never finished outside the Top 10 in a stage, and has a 112.57 Avg. Driver Rating. With this said I expect a big day from Eckes being in the mix all night and coming home with a solid Top 5, or just out of the Top 5, finish.

Back to good news, Texas was Eckes’ best of the 9 Intermediate races as he finished 2nd last year with the 2nd best Driver Rating at 124.8. In addition Eckes led 27% of the race and ran all 149 laps in the Top 15. This is typical of him here as in his 3 races he’s DNF’d once but finished 2nd twice, and he’s never completed a lap running outside the Top 15. This now has Hocevar 14th in points with a 21.0 Avg. Finish that ranks 23rd. Unfortunately it has hurt his Avg. Driver Rating too as it is just 75.93 and ranks 16th. Thankfully there is good news for him in the fact 78% of the laps he’s run have been in the Top 15 and he has a Top 10 and a Stage Win this year. Even better is that his Avg. Finish in the last 9 Intermediate races is 8.22, ranks 4th best, with 3 Top 3’s. Unfortunately he only has 5 Top 10’s as well, so he’s mostly been either Top 3 our outside the Top 10. Back to good news though, in the 9 races he has led 10% of the laps he’s run, his worst finish is 16th, and he has gotten 3.5 Stage Pts Per Stage. Back to good news though, in the 9 races he has led 10% of the laps he’s run, his worst finish is 16th, and he has gotten 3.5 Stage Pts Per Stage. Last year at Texas was one of the races where Hocevar didn’t run Top 3 or outside the Top 10 as he finished 4th after running 72% of his laps in the Top 15, but unfortunately got 0 Stage Pts. This was only Hocevar’s 2nd race here but his 7.5 Avg. Finish is still respectable. However, the fact that he has 0 Stage T10’s in the 2 races is a little concerning. Looking at the stats this year Hocevar has been fast this year but without luck, and I think that turns around this weekend and he runs more like the other stats. I see him getting a Top 10 with a good chance at a Top 3 or even his first Win.
