PPN is proud to present our next Fan of the Month! Meet Shawn McGowan, our April 2023 Fan of the Month. Shawn is a 35-year-fan of NASCAR with decades of race attendance and fanship behind him. As you might expect from a fan raised on racing, Shawn is a fan of Dale (both Sr and Jr) and some other notable drivers.

How long have you been a NASCAR fan and what got you into it?
I’ve been a NASCAR fan as long as I’ve been born. Being born in
Daytona Beach, Florida kinda makes NASCAR engrained in your blood. I was
born in June of 1987 and went to the Daytona 500 from 1988 to 2014.
Who is your favorite current NASCAR driver and why?
Noah Gragson, I’ve been following him since 2020 and it’s been a
wild ride the past few years.
Who is your favorite retired NASCAR driver and why?
Dale Jr. and Clint Bowyer. I loved Dale Sr. because he was my dad’s
driver. Then I decided to follow Jr. So I had my own driver and Clint
just seems like he’d be a fun dude to have a beer with.
What is your all-time favorite NASCAR moment or race?
The 2014 Daytona 500, my last I ever went to. It was such a long day
and in the end I got to see Dale Jr. win his second.
Is there a unique story behind a piece of memorabilia that you own?
I guess I’d have to say the RSVP to my wedding. I sent one to Dale
Jr. and he actually signed it and sent it back.
What is your favorite piece in your collection? Why is it your favorite?
My favorite piece in my collection is probably my autographed Dale Jr.
Daytona 500 raced version diecast cars. They are both auto’d in person
at two separate occasions when I met him.
About how many items are in your collection?
About 300
What is one item that you really want to add to your collection?
I would LOVE some sheet metal from Noah Gragson’s Bass Pro JRM car.
