Outlook
Ross Chastain is notable, like Alex Bowman above, because of his good 2023 stats. Last week Chastain essentially ran over the entire field according to Christopher Bell, but I digress. In the end he finished 3rd after running well all race which improved his Avg. Finish to 9.71 (ranks T2nd) and was his 2nd Top 3 of the year. This was also his 3rd Top 5 but the problem is that it was just his 4th Top 10 in 7 races as well, so he is either finishing Top 5 or outside the Top 10. However, Chastain has been running well in races as he has spent 78.62% of his laps in the Top 15, has a 97.47 Avg. Driver Rating, and has the 2nd most Stage Pts at 69. Nice. What’s not nice is his Dirt numbers from last year, in the 1 race he got 0 Stage Pts and finished 33rd after blowing an engine. Even worse is he only spent half his laps in the Top 15 and ended with the 28th best Driver Rating at 48.8. What’s worse than that is Chastain has never finished a race here at the Bristol Dirt track. In the 2 races Chastain has 2 DNF’s with a 34.0 Avg. Finish, a 44.75 Avg. Driver Rating and has only ran 42% of his laps in the Top 15 with 0 Stage Pts to his name. Outlook
Joey Logano is notable because of his stupid good career numbers at the Bristol Dirt race. Last week Logano was pretty much a non-factor for the win but did bring his 22 car home 7th. This was Logano’s 4th Top 10 this year and brought his Avg. Finish to 13.57, 6th best. Also ranking 6th is his 90.97 Avg. Driver Rating, so I guess Logano has a good case for being the 6th best driver this year. Just to throw some more 6’s out there he has ran 68.07% of his laps in the Top 15, has 6 Stage T10’s (both rank 10th) and has 6 Playoff Pts. To keep the 6 party going last year in the Bristol Dirt race Logano had the 6th best Driver Rating at 116.2 but ended up finishing 3rd. In the race Logano did not lead any laps but did spend all 250 laps in the Top 15 and even finished 7th in both stages. Now for the best news if you are a Logano fan. In the 2 races here at the Bristol Dirt Track Logano is the only driver to have never run a lap outside the Top 15 and he has the best Avg. Finish (2.0) with the best Avg. Driver Rating (122.35) as well. He is also the only driver to finish in the Top 10 of all 4 stages which has him with the 2nd best active Stage Pts Per Stage at 5.75. What’s more is that both the finishes have been Top 3’s with the first race ending in a Win. If that isn’t good enough to convince you Logano is good here, then nothing will. I think Logano gets a Top 10 in both stages this weekend and with all the 6’s above he finishes….6th.

Outlook
Kyle Busch is notable because of how well he ran at the Bristol Dirt race last year. Last week was not a typical day for Busch at Richmond as he only had the 14th best Driver Rating and finished 14th as well. This raised his Avg. Finish to 9.71, but this is still tied for 2nd in the 2023 Ranks above while his 89.46 Avg. Driver Rating ranks just 8th. Some good news for Busch is he has 2 Top 2’s this year and 4 Top 10’s, but bad news is that he also has just 2 Top 5’s. Even worse is Busch’s stages as he only has 5 Stage T10’s with just 20 Stage Pts, and the Stage Pts is only 16th most this year. There is more good news on the horizon though as this week is the Bristol Dirt race. In this race last year Busch finished 5th in both stages, ran all but 1 lap in the Top 15, had the 3rd best Driver Rating at 131.2, and won the race. This did come with a little help, however, as Chase Briscoe spun Tyler Reddick going for the win, otherwise Busch would have finished 3rd. That has been about right for Reddick over this year as he’s only ran 52.85% of his laps in the Top 15 and his Avg. Finish is just 16.14. Both of these are 14th in the 2023 ranks above and his Avg. Driver Rating of 84.99 isn’t much better at 12th. Some more not so good rankings are his 5 Stage T10’s (ranks T11th) and his 34 Stage Pts (ranks T10th). It is not all bad though as before last weekend Reddick had 3 straight Top 5 finishes with a win, but those are also his only Top 10 finishes on the year. When looking at Suarez’s stats from last years Dirt Track race it doesn’t seem these stats will get much better as he only ran 39.2% of his laps in the Top 15. The good news from the race is that Suarez finished 3rd in Stage 2, led over 25% of the race and ended up inside the Top 15 at the end of the race in 12th.
