From car wraps and fire suits to merchandise and track signage, NASCAR is an incredibly visual sport. Much of that is thanks to graphic design. Shawn Magee of SMD Racing is one of many hands playing a part in that visibility.
Magee spoke with PPN about how he got started in graphic design, his breakthrough into NASCAR, how the Next Gen car changed his design process, and even winning Paint Scheme of the Year with Corey LaJoie’s Scooby Doo Mystery Machine car.
Shawn chose Refuge of Hope as his charity of choice. This is a ministry local to Shawn and his family that strives to provide hope to those facing poverty and hopelessness. They serve meals throughout the week, distribute clothing, and assist with housing and medical needs.
