Toyota / Save Mart 350
The NASCAR Cup Series headed to Sonoma Raceway for the second road course race of the 2023 season. While Denny Hamlin won the pole, his teammate, Martin Truex, Jr. stole the show.
Truex put on a clinic throughout the day and would go on to win the Toyota / Save Mart 350. However, it would be a different Toyota driver that turned the heads of the Pit Pass Network staff.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
With 13 to go, the No. 45 of Tyler Reddick was slow on the track in Turn 11 with a flat tire. And this is when Reddick made the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race.
Yes.
With a flat tire.
Instead of limping around the track and ultimately bringing the action to a crawl, Reddick pulled a u-ey. He circled back to the pit road entrance and avoided bringing out the caution.
Who knows if this is legal or not, but Tyler Reddick made a heads-up move to cut nearly two miles driving on a flat tire. Definitely saved a caution. #NASCAR pic.twitter.com/sFk0SrtHtB

Unfortunately, NASCAR deemed it an illegal move and sent him back down pit road for a pass-through penalty.
While it wasn’t a beneficial, race-winning move, Truex likely appreciated the heads-up move to keep the race green.
Reddick started the day P2 and made it back on track to finish out the race, but, at the checkered flag, was scored P33.
