Sonoma wasn’t as eventful as Portland for Nemechek, but it was also not as good of a finish as Portland as he ended up 16th. This has Nemechek’s Avg. Finish at 8.79 now, but that’s still good for 2nd best. Also 2nd best are his 2 Wins, 5 Top 3’s, 7 Top 5’s, 20 Stage T10’s, and 14 Playoff Pts. In addition to these impressive stats his 109.87 Avg. Driver Rating, 89.13 Laps in Top15%, 5 Top 2’s, 11 Top 10’s, and 144 Stage Pts are best this year. As a matter of fact his worst rank in the 2023 Ranks above is his 98.19 Completed Laps% which ranks 9th, but other than this all of his ranks are 5th or better. In addition with this success Nemechek has been good on Intermediates as well. In the 3 races this year he’s amassed the 5th best Avg. Finish at 4.33 and the best Avg. Driver Rating at 126.2. Ty Gibbs is notable because of his career Nashville stats. Sonoma was a bit of a disappointment in my estimation for Gibbs as he ended up 4th, not really competing for win. This was Gibbs’ 3rd race this year and in the 3 races he has a 4.0 Avg. Finish, a 118.57 Avg. Driver Rating, 3 Top 5’s, and he’s ran 98.15% of his laps in the Top 15. One of these races was an Intermediate race, Charlotte, where Gibbs finished 5th. In the race he had a 122.4 Driver Rating, ran 97.5% of his laps in the Top 15, won both stages, and led 26% of the race. As far as his Nashville stats go Gibbs has ran here once, and that race was last year. In the race he led just 4 laps, but did run 98.94% of his laps in the Top 15. Furthermore his 111.3 Driver Rating was 4th best in the race and he got 13 Stage Pts before coming home in 4th. That’s all the data there is for Gibbs this weekend, and it’s really not much. However, what is there bodes well for him, and with there being little Cup competition in the Xfinity race this weekend I think he’s probably the favorite to win.
