Crayon 301
Rain once again hampered on-track action. This time, the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway fell victim to rain. Once cars hit the track on Monday afternoon, the racing did not disappoint.
There were numerous memorable moments throughout the race, however, one particular thing stood out to the PPN staff.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
In practice, Martin Truex, Jr. led the way in overall lap averages, despite sitting second on the leaderboard. When qualifying rolled around, he laid down a lap good enough to start on the front row.
Then, after winning the first two stages of the Crayon 301, Truex held on to completely dominate the day – and weekend – in Loudon.
On the final restart, he needed to hold off the No. 5 of Kyle Larson, and that he did. With nine to go, Truex did what he had done all day – rocketed ahead of the field. This time, it would earn him the checkered flag and the coveted lobster.
In summary, Truex started P2, finished P1, and led all but 47 laps. When all was said and done, he earned 60 points, as well as his third win of the season, solidifying his position atop the Playoff Leaderboard.
Honorable Mention
While it wasn’t a win, a P4 finish for the No. 4 of Kevin Harvick turned the heads of PPN staff.
Following a string of less-than-happy finishes for Harvick, could this finish provide the momentum needed for a win in his final season as PPN Journalist, Gregory Latham, predicted earlier this week? That remains to be seen, but it was, without a doubt, a stand-out day for the Stewart-Haas Racing driver.
