Verizon 200 at the Brickyard
While chaos was expected at the Indianapolis Road Course, the race ran mostly clean. This was due in large part to the absence of stage breaks to bunch the field back together.
At the end of the day, Michael McDowell locked his No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team into the 2023 Playoffs. Dominantly, he led 54 of 82 laps. Additionally, he won the opening stage and finished P2 in the second stage.
To cap it all off, he crossed those famous bricks ahead of the field, winning the second race of his NASCAR Cup Series career.

McDowell’s showing was certainly impressive. However, it was a quick-thinking move from another road-course standout that caught the attention of the Pit Pass Network team – and ultimately led to this win.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
McDowell could nearly taste victory – and those Indy bricks. However, Chase Elliott was closing in with each turn. Suddenly, AJ Allmendinger slid off the track and through a gravel pit in Turn 4.
With four laps to go, it looked like a caution would wave and force a two-lap shoot-out to decide the race winner.
However, Allmendinger was able to get his car straightened out and back on track to avoid the caution.
This move allowed the race to remain green, prevented Elliott from facing off with McDowell in a late restart, and showcased one of the most dominant cars in Indy.
