With back-to-back road courses and Michael McDowell’s dominant Indianapolis Road Course win, NASCAR Cup Series fans waited to see if the Front Row Motorsports driver would also go back-to-back.

While the day did not go as planned for the driver of the No. 34, another driver would dominate the day. William Byron started the day P2, finished the opening stage in the same position, then went on to win stage 2 and the race.

Having to start from the rear after an ECU issue, Brad Keselowski’s day started behind the 8-ball. With Playoff implications on the line, the No. 6 team needed to do something radical.

Crew chief Matt McCall opted to run their own strategy and this ended up being the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race.

The Rich MARvelous Move of the Race is decided by Pit Pass Network staff at the checkered flag.

To start the race, McCall chose to keep his driver on track for the maximum fuel run while the majority of the field pitted. This had Keselowski finishing the opening stage in P18.

By lap 30, the No. 6 was in P8 but finished the stage P29.

Once again, running his own race, Keselowski worked his way to P13 before the lone caution of the day came out. After varying strategies rose from the field, Keselowski hung out in the mid-teens before finishing the day P15.

In all, the RFK Racing driver gained 19 positions in the race and ultimately locked himself into the 2023 Playoffs on points.
