Spencer Boyd‘s sponsor, Montucky Cold Snacks, gave fans the chance to become the inaugural Montucky Mascot. With a prize package perfect for his ‘larger-than-life personality,’ John Gutz jumped at the opportunity.
Gutz is a burger-eating champion and amateur wrestling commentator who can often be found wearing a toy crown atop his head.
Prize Package for a King
His winning image earned a spot on Boyd’s truck to take on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway.
In addition to attending the race with Boyd and his No. 12 Young’s Motorsports team, Gutz will have his likeness appear on over 100,000 beer cans. These cans will hit production and distribution in 2024.
Two more prizes round out the package. First, Gutz will throw the first pitch for the Reno Aces’ opening game. Finally, he will become the official emissary to the sovereign nation of The Republic of Molossia. And, if you can find that on the map, you might have had one too many Cold Snacks!
Contest Details
Seamus Gallagher, Vice President of Marketing for Montucky Cold Snacks, shared the image-creating process that started with a photographer capturing images of each contestant. Then, an artist turned each image into an illustration. Out of hundreds of entrants, Gutz was chosen to appear on the beer’s line of lagers.
In discussing the contest, Gallagher went on to say, “I just think it’s awesome that a beer brand would invite the community to be part of its brand…and put a consumer’s face on a race truck.”
If you think you have what it takes to be the next Montucky mascot, be on the lookout as a new contest will run in 2024 to coincide with Gutz’s cans.
Tune in to FS1 on Thursday, September 14 at 9pm ET for the UNOH 200 to catch this cool truck.
