Kansas Speedway proved to be painful for many Playoff drivers. Martin Truex, Jr. had an early exit just mere laps after the race started with a blown tire. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace experienced similar trouble, including a broken toe link. However, was able to remain in the race after a quick fix from his team.

Michael McDowell’s team continued to lack needed speed and suffered damage after a mid-race incident. On Lap 66, Chris Buescher had a loose wheel while William Byron had a fire in his pit stall.

In all, it was a bad day to be a Playoff driver.

With seven laps remaining in the race, the field lined up for a two-lap shoot-out after Buescher brought out the caution with a blown tire. The expectation was chaos and carnage. Fortunately, the race remained green till the end, however, the chaos reigned.

Daniel Suarez and Erik Jones led the field to green with Joey Logano on the second row and Tyler Reddick on the third.

Logano surged ahead and it looked as if he might lock himself into the Round of 12.

The Rich MARvelous Move of the Race is decided by Pit Pass Network staff at the checkered flag.

However, Reddick said, “Not so fast, my friend,” and pulled off the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race. If you missed it live, watch and enjoy:

It was a display of impeccable timing, traffic navigation, and patience from Reddick to lock himself into the next round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

Honorable Mention

Pre-race, the No. 43 Legacy Motor Club crew had to replace the “entire transaxle.”  Ultimately, they were able to do so, get the car through technical inspection, and to the grid without forcing Jones to start from the rear.

Jones started the race in P19 and finished Stage 2 in P6. After fighting for the lead in the final laps, he finished a hard-fought day in P3.
