Welcome, in this article series we will be reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series has done in the 2023 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-4 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer/future manufacturer teammate as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2023 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2023 with season ranking since the Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2023 Short track (under 1 mile), Small track (1-1.3 mile), intermediate (1.3-1.5 mile), Big track (2-2.5 mile), Road Course, Superspeedway (drafting tracks), and Dirt track statistics. I will grade each section and give a brief reason why, then give a short overview ending with an overall grade A+ thru F- based on a weighted formula from the grades above. To sum up each team, at the end of their last driver I will give an overall team grade based on the grades for each driver. All grades may take into account underfunded/well-funded trucks and experience.

The first driver is always tricky to grade since there is nothing to base it off of. However, just 1 Win, 1 Stage Win, 3rd best Avg. Finish, T2nd most Top 10’s, and 7th best Avg. Driver Rating seems like an A-.

His Avg. Finish wasn’t all that bad and he did get 3 Top 5’s. However, his stages weren’t great and his Avg. Driver Rating isn’t that good either so I gave him another A-.

More than half his finishes were out of the Top 10 with 0 in the Top 5, but his only one out of the Top 20 was a DNF. What saved him from a worse grade was that he did pretty decent in stages.

– Rhodes needed a miracle at Homestead and got it to race for and win the Truck Championship
– Rhodes only had 1 Win, but he had the 2nd most Top 10’s and decent in-race stats
– His stages and runs weren’t great in the playoffs, but almost half his finishes were Top 5’s
– He ended the year on a 4 race Top 10 and 3 race Top 5 streak

This is pretty much a no brainer as he ran every lap in the Top 15, finished 2nd in all 3 stages and had the 2nd best Avg. Driver Rating.

For someone in the playoffs and in a ThorSport truck his finishes were lacking as less than half his finishes were in the Top 10. Even worse he only ran 64% of his laps in the Top 15. So, he gets a C-.
