Welcome, in this article series we will be reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series has done in the 2023 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-4 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer/future manufacturer teammate as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2023 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2023 with season ranking since the Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2023 Short track (under 1 mile), Small track (1-1.3 mile), intermediate (1.3-1.5 mile), Big track (2-2.5 mile), Road Course, Superspeedway (drafting tracks), and Dirt track statistics. I will grade each section and give a brief reason why, then give a short overview ending with an overall grade A+ thru F- based on a weighted formula from the grades above. To sum up each team, at the end of their last driver I will give an overall team grade based on the grades for each driver. All grades may take into account underfunded/well-funded trucks and experience.

These stats for a tier 2 team and a rookie driver are very impressive, especially the Poles. However, he didn’t win and had just 2 Top 5’s so he gets an A-.

What helped him with this grade is that he’s a rookie on a tier 2 team as his finish was mediocre, but his Laps in Top 15% was pretty bad.
Overview
– Sanchez was the first rookie to finish Top 6 in points since Zane Smith finished 2nd in 2020
– Sanchez finished in the Top 10 quite a bit and tied the 3rd most Poles in a season since 2016
– He ran pretty good in the playoffs, but he had trouble finishing the races off sometimes
– He had a pretty good streak this year of 4 straight Top 10 finishes
– Short tracks were okay for him as he ran decent and finished all but one race in the Top 15
– His Stage Pts at Small tracks was great, but even with good runs he got 0 Top 5’s
– Intermediates were great for Sanchez as he had 3 Poles and ran great, but he had just 4 Top 10’s in 8 races
– In the one Big track race he chased Stage Pts and ended up finishing 19th

Overview
– Wood competed in only 13 races finishing 10th in owner points and 26th in driver points
– Overall Wood did not run too well this year and had as many Stage T10’s as race Top 10’s
– He ran a little better in the playoffs than he did overall, but his finishes were pretty bad
– While he didn’t finish back-to-back races in the Top 10, he finished 2 straight races of his in the Top 10
– Short tracks were pretty bad for him as he had 0 Top 15 finishes and barely ran laps in the Top 15
– At Small tracks he had a best finish of 27th, but he did run a quarter of his laps in the Top 15
