Foundation Friday seeks to spotlight how NASCAR drivers are giving back through their personal foundations. Each week, a different driver and their foundation will be highlighted including who they are helping, notable accomplishments, and how you can get involved in their efforts.

The mission of the Erik Jones Foundation is “to change lives by igniting children’s passion for reading, encouraging early cancer detection and care, and promoting animal welfare.”

While it seems Jones has cast a wide net concerning its beneficiaries, each initiative holds a special place in Jones’ heart and life. Additionally, this broad reach allows him to help more people (and animals).

Reading is an important part of Jones’ life and he has a desire to instill that in the youngest fans. With donations to libraries as well as regular Read with Erik live streams, he is making sure all hands have a book.

Over the past year, he read 17 books to children, donated two book vending machines, and conducted four live readings at race tracks.

Cancer Awareness

Cancer struck the Jones family in 2016 when Erik’s father lost his battle with cancer. Today, Erik desires to help others avoid the pain of losing a loved one to this destructive disease.

In 2023, Jones teamed up with The Sun Bus to provide skin care checks to race fans and speedway volunteers. Additionally, The Sun Bus gave away sunscreen to race attendees – much needed, no matter the season!

Animal Welfare

Anyone scrolling through Jones’ social media will instantly see his love of animals.

Growing up, his family had all sorts of pets and that has carried to adulthood. Jones states, “I only want the best for my dog, and all the other animals out there.”

Last year, the EJF partnered with a local veterinarian to promote awareness about skin cancer in animals.
