Are you heading to the Atlanta area for the triple-race weekend? If you haven’t been before, the track is not actually in Atlanta. Sorry to disappoint if you didn’t know that! Also, there actually isn’t much around the racetrack at all. It’s truly out in the middle of nowhere.
Luckily for those going, you will be treated to a double-header on Saturday! You can kick off your afternoon with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and end the day with the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
If you still need a way fill your time before or after the races, here are some ideas.
Attractions
You could drive up to Atlanta where there is no shortage of things to do in the city. Unfortunately, this is at least an hour drive from the track. And don’t mention the parking situation. However, if you have an extra day, then downtown Atlanta is a great option.
I won’t lie, I love outlet shopping. About 20 minutes from the track in Locust Grove, Georgia you will find Tanger Outlets.
Ladies, with over 50 stores available, you can do some major damage to your credit card! With multiple restaurants surrounding the outlets, you can also grab lunch or dinner there.
Restaurants
- La Michoacana Mexican is a delicious restaurant almost directly across from the track. The fajitas and fresh made corn tortillas are amazing!
- Miller’s Ale House is located in McDonough and is the place for steaks and burgers. If you want to hang out and watch sports with your friends and fellow race fans, this is the perfect restaurant for it!
- Southern Fusion serves breakfast and lunch and you do not want to skip this restaurant if you are in Locust Grove. The menu is large and diverse. I was told the salmon with mango chutney is delicious and they have the best tasting grits!
