Welcome to the start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season race fans! Does anyone else feel like this offseason flew by quickly? I will be continuing the Outside the Track series to give fans ideas for activities and restaurants in the area of the racetrack. First up is Daytona International Speedway!

Attractions

  • You can’t go to Daytona Beach, Florida and not go on the beach! Carve out a bit of time during the long weekend to walk the beach and dip your toes in the water. Or, consider dining beachfront, because food tastes better with the sound of the waves!
    • For extra fun, pay a small fee for a day pass to drive on sections of Daytona Beach (weather permitting).
  • If you are a chocolate lover like I am, be sure to check out Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory. They have been crafting chocolates and candies since 1925. You can view the factory process through windows and they give out samples to try before you buy. There’s no way you will walk away disappointed! They are open Mondays- Saturdays.
  • If you are looking for some indoor fun for any age, check out D&D Blacklight Mini Golf and Arcade. Who wouldn’t love 20-hole glow golf?
  • Want to test your skills and see how good of a driver you are? Go to K1 Speed Daytona.

This indoor go-kart track is located less than a mile from the Speedway. You can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, giving you the ultimate adrenaline rush on the elevated indoor track. They also have a café to grab a drink or bite to eat between races.

Restaurants

Our Deck Down Under is located in Port Orange. I was told the yellow fin tuna and shrimp are delicious if you are in the mood for fish or seafood.

Aunt Catfish’s On The River is also in Port Orange. This restaurant has a little bit of everything. But, don’t miss out on their lunch or early bird dinner specials. Everyone raves about their fried catfish, lemon pepper fish, and the cinnamon rolls!

Brickyard Lounge and Grill is right down the road from the racetrack. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, which includes salads, sandwiches, burgers, and wings.

I am always looking for suggestions to pass along for other fans, so please comment with your go-to places for any upcoming tracks!
