This week, the traveling circus heads west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Here, the fans can gamble on the strip and the teams will gamble on the track. Three teams will leave Vegas with winning hands on their way to Phoenix. And fans? Be sure to report back whether you made or lost money in the casinos.
If you plan to head to Las Vegas for the races this weekend and are looking for some neat things to do that don’t involve casinos, we have a few suggestions for you. And, as always, we also provide restaurant options below as well.
Attractions
- The Mob Museum is housed in the historic former federal courthouse and USPS building. This three-story museum is dedicated to preserving the history of organized crime in America and the efforts of law enforcement to combat it.
There are interactive displays, artifacts, and multiple multimedia presentation. If you are looking for something to fill a big block of time, this is a great option. Visitors note you can easily spend upwards of three hours going through the museum.
- The High Roller is a 550-foot tall ferris wheel – the second largest in the world. It offers stunning views of the Vegas skyline and surrounding area. The glass enclosed cabins allow riders to enjoy the 30-minute ride in comfort.
It’s a fun experience any time of day, but the views are especially gorgeous at night when the city is illuminated.
- Located on the grounds of the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is a great option to escape the buzz of the strip! Roam the peaceful and relaxing four-acre gardens, complete with meandering streams, waterfalls, exotic birds, turtles, and fish. The big draw is the flock of Chilean Flamingos. With no cost to enter, the habitat is a fun experience for all ages!
Restaurants
- Do you want to expand your taste buds or just love Thai food? Then, Le Thai is your place! Le Thai is located on Fremont Street and open for lunch and dinner. The short rib fried rice and drunken noodles are two dishes you do not want to miss out on!
- Craving Italian? Check out The Bootlegger Italian Bistro! First, stop at the famous ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign. After that, keep driving down South Las Vegas Boulevard where you will spot this restaurant. Their carbonara and Pollo angelo are amazing. Don’t skip dessert here either!
- Finally, The Terrace Pointe Cafe is in Wynn Las Vegas and is a great brunch option. The caramelized apple French toast and smoke salmon come highly recommended.
