After the dominant performance from Christopher Bell last weekend at Phoenix Raceway, NASCAR heads back to the East Coast. Many drivers and teams are looking to rebound after a dismal display on track during the two-week West Coast Swing.
Bristol is a favorite of many drivers and fans and I know many people are ready to see some hot short track racing. Who else is super excited that we will not see dirt on Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend?!
If you are going to the races this weekend, have a great time and we hope your favorite driver wins.
Attractions
- Appalachian Caverns located in Blountville, Tenneessee, just 10 minutes from the racetrack, is a great way to kill a couple hours.
You can take guided tours of the caverns and the kids will have fun in the gem mine. I suggest calling ahead because depending on the type of tour you want, you might have to make reservations.
- Southwest Virginia Cultural Center and Marketplace in Abingdon, Virginia is a neat place to visit if this is your first time to the Bristol area.
You can view and buy arts and crafts from over 180 artisans from Southwest Virginia who have been juried by fellow artisans. They can also provide you will all the info and recommendations you would want on the greater Bristol area.
Restaurants
- Check out Blackbird Bakery in downtown Bristol if you are looking for coffee and sweet treats. You won’t be disappointed!
- Delta Blues BBQ on the Bristol side of State Street is for the meat lovers. I was told they have the best wings and the burnt ends sandwich is highly recommended.
Also, they will have a band playing Friday night if you are in the mood for some live music.
- Finally, Pal’s is the go-to fast food joint if you want to pick something up quick for the family. They serve breakfast and then switch over to burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. There is always a line so you know it’s legit!
