Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to continue on Sunday with the Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and we continue to offer some of our favorite plays. The race will start at 3:30 p.m. ET and broadcast on FOX, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Now that the two restrictor-plate races are over, we can focus more on the data from practice and qualifying to understand the expected performance.

Since DraftKings has signed on to be NASCAR’s official partner, we will use their odds to determine what drivers we want to wager our units on. This year, we have ten units for each cup race (six for race winners and four for prop bets). If you have noticed, we have not been taking risky bets while building up our bank every week.

PPN Plays

After analyzing the practice speeds and qualifying times, it is evident that Chevy has been performing well. The first 20-minute session witnessed the top three overall speeds, with Ross Chastain leading the way with an average lap speed of 184.268 mph. William Byron secured the second position with an average speed of 182.346 mph. His teammate Kyle Larson finished third with a speed of 182.327 mph.

The other Hendrick Motorsports drivers, Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott, completed the top five positions. During the consecutive laps, Larson had the fastest average lap speed (180.385 mph) among drivers who ran at least ten laps, followed by Byron and Tyler Reddick. Looking at the last few years, a few drivers stand out, as we will list below.

 Daily Fantasy Sports Picks

With 267 laps to race, I’m leaning towards building dual dominator builds. This has been the optimal strategy in the four Gen-Seven races at Las Vegas. I like the Hendrick Motorsports team built with Byron and Larson. Elliott, Bowman, Chastain, Wallace, Reddick, and Kyle Busch have shown great speed so they might be safe picks. As a long shot, I am considering Ryan Preece, who starts 36th, as my punt.

I want to give a special shoutout to Robert Warren’s “The Fastest Lap” Facebook group for helping me select drivers this week. Robert’s DFS input is one of the best in the business.
