The 28th anniversary of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride is scheduled to set sail at the beginning of May. This 2,100-mile trek across America, from South Dakota to North Carolina, began in 1995.
The donations raised from the ride go to support families with children attending Victory Junction. Entering it’s 20th year, Victory Junction “is a year-round camp that exists to enrich the lives of children, ages six to 16, with chronic medical illnesses. The activities and environment provide life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering.”
The cost per child exceeds $2,500 to attend the camp. However, due to donations and events like the Charity Ride, families are not responsible for the cost.
Numerous well-knkown names are participating in the 2024 ride, including “NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Hershel McGriff; former NASCAR drivers Max Papis, David Ragan, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace; former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker; and TV personalities Rick Allen and Rutledge Wood.”
Petty sat down with Pit Pass Network to share more about the 2024 ride and Victory Junction.
