Outside the Track: WWTR

After a soggy ending to the Coca-Cola 373, we head to the Midwest for an action-packed weekend outside St. Louis at World Wide Technology Raceway.

I’m not going to lie, after the very long day I had at Charlotte Motor Speedway last weekend, I am looking forward to enjoying this weekend’s races from the comfort of my couch!

If you will be in attendance this weekend, have a fantastic time! St. Louis sounds like a fun city and of course the racetrack will be the place to be for hot action on track, as well as concerts day and night.

ATTRACTIONS

With the racetrack being a mere five minutes from the Missouri/Illinois state line, there is absolutely no reason not to enjoy the city of St. Louis before or after the race.

  • The biggest attraction is of course the Gateway Arch. Park closeby and spend some time at the Gateway Arch National Park before taking a tram ride to the top of the Arch.

  • Of course, if you would rather keep your feet on solid ground walk the St. Louis Riverfront along the Mississippi River.
  • With the St. Louis Cardinals playing away this weekend, this is a great opportunity to tour their home park, Busch Stadium. It’s just a few blocks away from the Arch. They offer two types of tours starting at $12 for adults, as well as the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum. There are multiple tour times daily so you can easily plan sightseeing around your tour time.
  • For the beer lovers, check out the Anhueser-Busch St. Louis Brewery. You can partake in the Budweiser experience with tours to see how the famous beer is made, tastings, and even get up close and personal with the famous Clydesdales if they are in town. Bonus: Ross Chastain will be there Saturday for a meet and greet! Click here to get all the info on visiting the brewery.

RESTAURANTS

  • Blues City Deli near downtown St. Louis came highly recommended. In fact the person told me, “They have the best sandwiches in the Midwest. You cannot come to the area and not go eat there atleast once!” The whole menu sounded delicious and don’t forget to order the loaded potato salad!
  • If you want the best St. Louis style ribs, go to Pappy’s Smokehouse. If you aren’t a rib eater, grab the burnt ends sandwich. It is suggested that you go early in the day because they are known to sell out!
  • Finally, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard is a throwback to the days when your parents and grandparents were kids.

They have been in business over 80 years selling custard concoctions out of walk-up windows. Don’t let the long lines scare you off! It’s worth the wait!

Where are you headed between races this weekend?
