Toyota / Save Mart 350
Calamity struck early for Joe Gibs Racing on the repaved road course. Denny Hamlin exited the race just three laps in. Then, Martin Truex, Jr. went spinning out on Lap 8, then on Lap 15 saw Ty Gibbs hit the Turn 1 wall after a flat tire.
The chaos then piled up with a record number of cautions at Sonoma Raceway, including a multi-car incident that rivaled a superspeedway incident.

When all was said and done, Tyler Reddick won the opening stage and Chris Buescher took Stage Two. Ultimately, Kyle Larson took the checkered flag and rode off into the sunset with a glass of wine.

In the midst of all the unknowns, Larson, holding out for a caution, took to the pits on Lap 80 from the lead position. This stop was only his second of the race. From there, he returned to the track in P8. With fresher tires, he plowed through the front of the field to claim the checkered flag.
Honorable Mention
We wanted to give a shoutout to Truex. He came back from his early troubles and was contending for the win in the final laps. However, as he was coming to the stripe, he ran out of fuel. While the crowd cheered him on, he was able to limp it across the line and still snag a lead lap finish.
