Best of the Rest: Richmond

Following a dramatic end to the Richmond weekend for the Cup Series, how did some of the other teams and drivers fare?


Craftsman Truck Series (Clean Harbors 250)

  1. Ty Dillon (#25 Rackley W.A.R. Chevrolet): Dillon and his #25 crew had a much needed strong showing in Richmond. Qualifying 19th, Dillon made his way up through the field quickly. Starting on the front row late in the race, the #25 Chevrolet was quickly dispatched with, but came home a solid 9th. This was only the Rackley W.A.R.’s crew second Top 10 this season.
  2. Connor Hall (#91 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet): A current CARS Late Model tour standout, Hall made his series debut in Richmond. Coupling with MHR to drive their #91 entry, the duo came home 10th after starting 21st.

  3.  Stefan Parsons (#75 Henderson Motorsports Chevrolet): Parsons joined with long-time Truck Series team Henderson Motorsports for a partial schedule this season. Parsons’ eighth start for the team came at Richmond, where he would qualify 29th. The #75 Silverado would then bulldoze through the field and finish 11th.
    NASCAR CUP SERIES (Cook Out 400)

1. Carson Hocevar (#77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet): Rookie Hocevar had a quiet but solid day in Richmond. Nabbing one of his and Spire’s better finishes this season, Hocevar finished the race a solid 8th and stayed out of trouble despite a dramatic end.

2. Josh Berry (#4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford): Berry makes his first appearance in this article series, as Berry and his #4 crew rallied to a 14th place finish after issues during the race. Berry had also qualified a fast 3rd, and had a solid much needed finish.

3. Parker Retzlaff (#66 MBM Motorsports Ford): This may come as a bit of a surprise entry, however Xfinity Series regular Parker Retzlaff made his Cup Series debut in Richmond. In order to make his planned series debut later in Talladega, Retzlaff was required to make a start beforehand to meet requirements. Long-time owner Carl Long placed Retzlaff in his #66 Ford. Having a relatively quiet day, Retzlaff would finish 35th (but also earning the respect of his competitors).
