Cook Out 400
The Olympics are over and NASCAR is back! With four races left in the NASCAR Cup Series season, teams headed to Richmond Raceway for some Sunday night, short-track action.
NASCAR and Goodyear provided two tire options for teams, and it resulted in some interesting strategies throughout the race.
The first 398 laps were pretty quiet. Christopher Bell won Stage 1 and Daniel Suarez won Stage 2. Then, on Lap 373, Austin Dillon passed Denny Hamlin for the lead. When the No. 3 was two laps away from the win, the caution waved as Ryan Preece and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. went spinning.
Facing NASCAR Overtime, Joey Logano had the advantage. But A. Dillon took to Logano’s bumper and took “win and you’re in” to heart. He spun Logano, and collected Hamlin in the process.
With that, A. Dillon went on to claim the checkered flag and a spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
While we don’t necessarily agree with A. Dillon’s move, this was easily the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race. Not only did it get people talking about the race, it propelled an unlikely driver into the Playoffs.

Additionally, it provided for some dramatics in the final weeks of the regular season – exactly what NASCAR wants. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, NASCAR has to say about this move later this week.
Fan Vote
Before we move on to Michigan, we need to look back at the fan vote from the Brickyard 400.
With 50% of the vote, Ryan Blaney’s mid-race save resulting in a P3 finish took the win!
