Last weekend, NASCAR’s Xfinity and Cup Series teams tackled the mini superspeedway known as Atlanta. With this track now trending more towards a drafting track, it provides for some interesting race results since the re-design

Xfinity Series (Focused Health 250)

  1. Kyle Weatherman (#91 DGM Racing Chevrolet): Featuring new colors and sponsor on the car this weekend, Weatherman proved why he can get the most out of his equipment. Qualifying 37th, Weatherman survived the late race carnage and methodically worked his way up to 11th by race’s end.

  2. Lawless Alan (#15 AM Racing Ford): Truck Series regular Alan returned to the #15 Mustang in Atlanta to make his second series start. Drafting tracks seem to play into Alan’s skill set, as he brought his AM Racing entry home a solid 13th.
  3. Mason Maggio (#35 Joey Gase Motorsports Chevrolet): Maggio made his 6th series start at Atlanta. Teaming with Joey Gase to drive his #35 Chevrolet, Maggio had a solid weekend. His first start in 2024 yielded an 18th place finish, after starting 27th.

Cup Series (Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart)

  1. Daniel Hemric (#31 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet): Hemric and his Kaulig Racing #31 crew had a much needed solid weekend. In a season where there has not been much to write home about, Hemric wheeled his Camaro to an 11th place finish for one of his better results this year.
  2. Justin Haley (#51 Rick Ware Racing Ford): Following Hemric above, Haley drove his RWR Mustang to an impressive 12th place. Haley, who has a known talent for running well at drafting tracks has had many solid races this season already.

  3. J.J. Yeley (#44 NY Racing Team Chevrolet): Veteran Yeley and NY Racing returned to the Cup Series in Atlanta. Making his fourth series start this season, Yeley wheeled his #44 entry to a surprising 23rd place finish. With both Yeley and the team being part-time entries, this gave the combo a much needed boost.
