What an exciting weekend we had at Darlington Raceway last weekend! I didn’t expect Chase Briscoe to pull off a win going into the race, that’s for sure. Will we see the great racing momentum carry into this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway? That’s yet to be seen, but I have a feeling we will. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us have a new 2024 winner for the third week in a row either. One of our staff will be in attendance, so keep an eye on our social media for content from the track this weekend.
If you are going to Atlanta for the races, have a fantastic time! If you are looking for some things to do outside of the track, here are some suggestions for you.
ATTRACTIONS
If you are a baseball fan, the Atlanta Braves are currently playing at home.
The ballpark is about an hour north of the racetrack with tickets starting at just $9.00 if you are willing to sit in nosebleed general admission. The closer to the field you are, obviously the price goes up. Bonus, Friday night is NASCAR Night and there will be fireworks after the game!
If you want a fun filled day in downtown Atlanta, I suggest spending part of the day at World of Coca-Cola. Here, you can learn how the popular beverage is made among other exhibits.
Best part, you can taste test all the different brands that Coca-Cola produces. You might find a drink you have never had before!
After some time at Coca-Cola, walk right next door to the Georgia Aquarium. Who doesn’t love seeing all the animals swimming by?
You can easily spends hours seeing everything the aquarium offers. Make sure to plan to see the dolphin and sea lion shows. Money saving tip: right now they are offering a free child admission with each adult admission. Score!
When you’re ready to chow down here are some suggestions!
Nana’s Chicken and Waffles near the track in McDonough came highly recommended. You can’t go wrong with waffles anytime of the day in my opinion and they have a ton of options on their menu.
If you would rather have more lunchtime food, I was told you must try the catfish po’boy or Cajun shrimp and grits.
Also in McDonough is Cowboy Chicken. They serve wood-fired rotisserie chicken, BBQ, and Mexican.
If you want to eat a little lighter, they do have a few salads on the menu. A plus with this restaurant is that you can order family packs. Great option if you are camping at the racetrack!
