Quaker State 400
Round 1 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs kicked off at Atlanta Motor Speedway with the Quaker State 400. Michael McDowell snagged the pole – his fifth of the season.
At the halfway point of the opening stage, Ryan Blaney snagged the lead from McDowell. Unfortunately, the stage ended under caution after Kyle Larson slammed the wall, taking Chase Briscoe with him. However, Blaney was in the lead and took the stage win.
Stage 2 was a bit more calm and saw Austin Cindric claim the stage win. The third and final stage saw Ross Chastain and McDowell lead the field to green. A very intense door-to-door battle ensued until John Hunter Nemechek went for a spin on Lap 176.
After multiple cautions and a lone Overtime attempt, Joey Logano came out the winner, advancing to the next round of the Playoffs.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
After much discussion following the race, our team couldn’t decide on one MARvelous move. However, in looking at where everyone finished, we were impressed with where a handful of drivers finished.
P11 – Daniel Hemric (2024 Average Finish: 22.5)
P12 – Justin Haley (2024 Average Finish: 22.9)
P15 – Corey LaJoie (2024 Average Finish: 23.1)
P23 – JJ Yeley (2024 Average Finish: 36.3)
P25 – BJ McLeod (2024 Average Finish: 29.3)
Kudos to these drivers for avoiding the chaos and being there at the end!
