After a wildcard race weekend at Talladega, NASCAR is back at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the ROVAL. Could we see another exciting finish with a non-playoff driver winning? I wouldn’t be surprised if we did! The road course has given fans many memorable moments over the handful of years NASCAR has been racing the configuration. I know it has mixed reviews from fans and drivers, but, personally, I enjoy the ROVAL. All of the other road courses NASCAR runs on are located far from me and I enjoy being able to sit up in the stands and see the whole course. I’ve attended a race at Watkins Glen in the past, it was a fun experience but I paid a lot of money to watch 20 seconds of each lap live and the rest of the race on a big screen. That was a one-and-done for me.
If you are headed to the Charlotte area for the races this week, have a fantastic time. The weather is looking great and there are so many things to do in the area to keep you busy when you aren’t at the racetrack. Some of our staff will be attending this weekend so if you see us, say hi. We would love to meet you! Make sure to keep an eye on our social media for content from the track.
Also, tell your friends and family who are race fans to like and follow our social media on X, Facebook, and Instagram. Send them to our website to check out our articles and interviews. We want to grow and be able to provide race fans with more content. Every little bit helps!

ATTRACTIONS

  • If you are looking for something unique to do away from the track, Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville is a great option. This cash-only zoo is family-run with animals from six continents.

Your admission gives you a drive-thru in your own vehicle and a walk around the petting zoo. Who doesn’t love having an animal come up to your window and eat out of your feeding bucket? They also have their fall festival going on right now, so you can pick out pumpkins after spending time with all the animals.

  • If you have kids and want something to do inside where there is air conditioning, Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville is a place you should definitely check out. Discovery Place is a non-profit with the mission to spread STEM learning in communities.

The learning-focused children’s museum has numerous interactive exhibits with themed areas and live shows throughout the week. They are open Tuesday-Sunday.

  • For the older kids (I believe adults are just big kids!) check out K1 Speed in Concord.

This indoor karting center is the place to show your friends and family that you have the skills on track and also channel your inner Intimidator, just rattle their cage a few times. There is food on site so this is a great option for nighttime fun after you have been at the racetrack Saturday and Sunday.

RESTAURANTS

  • When you are ready to chow down, CharBar No.7 in Mint Hill is a great option for lunch or dinner. The restaurant has a wide range menu but I was told you want to pick from the burger menu because they are the best around. Also, try the beer-battered mushrooms! They are delicious.
  • Harrisburg Family House Restaurant is just a few minutes away from the racetrack in Harrisburg. This is a no-frills, homestyle eats restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Saturday.

They have a very large menu as well as daily specials. No one will go home hungry from this place! They do offer online ordering for pickup so this is a great option for those camping at the racetrack who want home-cooked meals.

  • Nonna’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza in Concord is the best for pasta lovers! Nonna’s is family-owned and run, and the family comes from Italy. They have an extensive pizza menu but the real stars are the pastas. Make sure to save room for dessert, like the mini cannoli or the tiramisu.
