Proudly carrying the idea of the small team that could, Beard Motorsports has competed in NASCAR’s premier series 2017. Known as one of the better part-time entries, Beard Motorsports’ #62 Chevrolet has seen the likes of Brendan Gaughan, Justin Allgaier, Noah Gragson, and Austin Hill take the wheel with some success.
2024 saw the team return, again running their superspeedway schedule. While there were some solid performances, one run in particular ended in dramatic fashion for a debut driver.

2024 Crew Chief: Darren Shaw
2024 Season Grade: B
Anthony Alfredo: Alfredo brought some experience to the team in 2024, having run solid Xfinity Series seasons as well as several Cup starts to his credit. Alfredo rolled off the team’s schedule in the Daytona 500. Bringing sponsorship on board, Alfredo would bring the #62 Chevrolet home in 27th after making the show, qualifying 39th.

The team returned for race number 10 in Talladega with Alfredo. In one of the teams strongest runs of the season, Alfredo put the 62 team up front leading four laps and finishing 6th. Alfredo’s third and final start came in the Cup Series’ return to Talladega, where Alfredo finished 24th.
Parker Retzlaff: Xfinity Series standout Parker Retzlaff made his second career Cup start for Beard Motorsports for the summer Daytona event. Bringing Xfinity sponsor FUNKAWAY with him, Retzlaff provided possibly the most dramatic highlight of the team’s Cup career.

Qualifying 29th, Retzlaff easily made his second career Cup start. Retzlaff ran well throughout the event, with the #62 Chevrolet having a heavy presence towards the front of the field. Retzlaff would eventually go on to finish an impressive 7th, collecting the teams second top ten finish in just four 2024 starts.
The finish was not without it’s own drama however. Pushing Ford and eventual race-winner Harrison Burton to the win initially, criticism was loud that Retzlaff should have instead went to push fellow Chevrolet driver Kyle Busch to the win instead. Retzlaff came under some fire from Chevrolet itself over the result, so it is doubtful Retzlaff will return to Beard Motorsports or the Cup Series in 2025.
2025 Outlook: As of this writing, Beard Motorsports has already announced that Alfredo will be running in the the Daytona 500 for the team. While Alfredo will be running a full Xfinity Series slate as well, the possibility of additional Cup races is certainly possible.
The key to the team’s success also returns, as crew chief Darren Shaw has been instrumental in every Cup start the team has made since 2017.
