Wake up! It’s throwback weekend! After a race that was less than subpar last week at Martinsville we now head to another historic track, where hopefully there is more passing, Darlington. Down below you will find different statistics for active drivers and Next Gen races of the NASCAR Cup series here at Darlington Raceway ranging from Most Wins to Best Average Finishes by starting position in the Next Gen era. So read and enjoy these fun fact track stats!

– If you’re wondering who the drivers are to beat this weekend look no further than Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin as they both rank 1st or 2nd in the Avg. Finish table above, as well as both tables below.

– Joey Logano is the only active driver to have multiple poles here at Darlington, but there are 6 drivers looking to join him this weekend.

– No matter who wins this weekend Denny Hamlin will leave this weekend 1st in the table above, but there is a chance he won’t have the best Win%.

– The 11 drivers who are looking for their 2nd career Top 3 finish here at Darlington are Berry, Gibbs, Briscoe, Haley, Bell, Chastain, Byron, Bowman, Buescher, Elliott, and A. Dillon.

– Look out for Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson to be great in the stages this weekend as they are both top 3 in Stage Wins, Stage Win%, Stage T10’s and Stage T10% here among active drivers.

– Michael McDowell and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have not had much success here at Darlington as they are the leaders in most starts without a Win, Top 3, or Top 5 among active drivers.

J.J. Yeley and Casey Mears are the only drivers on every “without” table above, showing just how much they’ve struggled here.

– Incredibly, there is no overlap in drivers in the “without stage” tables above as every active driver who has ran more than 20 stages here has a Stage T10.

– Going into the Fall race last year there were 3 drivers on a 4 race Top 10 streak at Darlington and they all finished outside the Top 10 leaving Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin as the longest active Top 10 streaks currently.

– It’s risky to lead more than 30% of the laps in a Next Gen race at Darlington as 5 of the 7 drivers to do so have finished 25th or worse, and 5 of the 6 drivers to lead the most lap in a Next Gen race here haven’t won the race.

– In the 6 Next Gen races at Darlington only 4 times has a driver ran every lap of a race in the Top 15, and it was only done by two drivers (Christopher Bell and Brad Keselowski).

–The tables above say starting position does not matter here at Darlington in the Next Gen car, but 35th-37th make up 3 of the 4 worst Avg. Finishes and starting 4th seems to have some advantage.

– Tyler Reddick and William Byron are the only drivers to have over a 100 Avg. Driver Rating in the Next Gen at Darlington, and they are the only drivers to run over 90% of the Next Gen laps here in the Top 15 as well.

– There is no stand out drivers in the tables above as no one has a 10.0 or better Avg. Finish in the Next Gen here, while 4 drivers have lead over 10% of the laps here.

– Look for Toyota to be good in qualifying this weekend as they’ve won 4 of the 6 Next Gen Poles, but look for a Chevy/Ford to wind up in victory lane as they’ve won all 6 Next Gen races here.
