Stage 1

With the green in the air, drivers used up all available real estate, and Kris Wright fell to P19. Once things settled down, Wright found himself in P23.

Lap 12 saw him lose another spot, and spotter TJ Bell noted, “They’re just pointing a little straighter down the hill,” as he worked to coach his driver.

Ten laps later, the caution waved as Wright radioed in with a flat tire. After coming to his crew, he returned a second time to replace the left-side tires and attempt to get the splitter off the ground.

Back on track, Wright noted the splitter was still dragging. Stillman called Wright back to the pits and said, “We’re going to go under the hood…think something’s bent. We’re going to try and diagnose it.”

A crew member noted a part was broken with the right front shock, and Stillman instructed Wright, “Go ahead and get on track. If you feel like you can’t run it, bring it back in.”

On Lap 29, Wright returned to the track in P38 and was told, “Feel it out.”

Shortly after, Wright said, “I can smell something burning.” He also noted that he could barely turn the wheel.

Stillman told Wright to take it behind the wall. A minute later, Stillman told Bell, “We’re gonna be done.”

Bell commended the team on a great qualifying effort.

A very unlucky day for Wright and the Our Motorsports team.
