Food City 500
Alex Bowman scored the pole for the Food City 500 and led the field to green for 500 laps around The World’s Fastest Half-Mile. Forty-one laps into the race, Kyle Larson secured the lead and easily won the opening stage. He continued his dominating ways and snagged the Stage 2 win as well.
Ryan Blaney took over the lead on Lap 395 when Larson took his turn during green flag pit stops. For a spell, he was the only car on the lead lap, but that all changed with 60 to go when he took to the pits, and Larson resumed the lead. Larson then held on to win the Food City 500.
Rich MARvelous Move of the Race
The Food City 500 was relatively quiet, leaving not much to discuss. However, a tire snafu on pit road caught our attention!

During pit stops, a tire came off John Hunter Nemechek’s car. If not for some quick thinking from two crew members from Daniel Suarez’s team, the day could have been a lot worse for the No. 99 team.

Shout out to the rear tire changer for being speedy on his feet and to the fueler who told that tire, “Not today!”
Enjoy the return to Rockingham for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, ARCA Menards Series, and NASCAR Xfinity Series next weekend!
