Last weekend, the three major NASCAR series arrived in Indianapolis. While the Cup and Xfinity Series raced at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Truck Series hit the short track just down the road known as Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Trucks | Lucas Oil IRP | TSPORT 200
Race Winner: Layne Riggs
#7 Corey Day: A Hendrick Motorsports prospect, Day jumped behind the wheel of Spire Motorsports’ #7 Chevrolet as part of a partial development schedule. The result was a standout performance, with Day starting 16th and finishing a strong 2nd place.
IRP was Day’s seventh series start in 2025, and second straight top five run (5th at Nashville).

#66 Luke Fenhaus: Fenhaus is also running a partial schedule, and returned to the series at IRP. The ThorSport driver qualified his Ford in 9th, and finished 12th after not running in the series since Michigan.
In ten starts this season in ThorSport’s #66 entry, Fenhaus has one top ten (3rd) which also came at Michigan
#26 Dawson Sutton: Sutton’s rookie season running the #26 Chevrolet for Rackley W.A.R. Racing has not went as well as planned. Marred with bad luck, Sutton had much needed 19th place finish after starting 29th.
In 16 starts this season, Sutton has one top ten finish in Texas.
Xfinity Series | Indianapolis | Pennzoil 250
Race Winner: Connor Zilisch
#54 Taylor Gray: Gray graduated from the Truck Series to Xfinity in 2025 as rookie for powerhouse team Joe Gibbs Racing. The rookie campaign has been a bit of a learning curve for Gray, but he was able to show his talent in Indy. Starting 14th, Gray ran a solid race and finished third after nearly winning the event late.
Indy was Gray’s third straight top ten, following a pair of 7th place runs in Dover and Sonoma.
#26 Dean Thompson: Another truck graduate to Xfinity this season, Dean Thompson also had a solid run in Indy with his Sam Hunt Racing team. Thompson brought his Toyota home in 10th after rolling off 16th.
Thompson has become a consistent presence in the top fifteen most of the summer, not finishing worse then 17th in the last seven races.
#99 Matt DiBenedetto: A former Cup Series driver, DiBenedetto is re-establishing his career in the Xfinity Series with Viking Motorsports. Indy showed how far the new team has come this season, with #99 Chevrolet finishing 11th (after starting 25th).
After 21 starts this season, DiBenedetto has one top five at Talladega and sits 21st in the standings.

Cup Series | Indianapolis | Brickyard 400 presented by PPG
Winner: Bubba Wallace
#34 Todd Gilliland: With the departure of former teammate Michael McDowell to Spire Motorsports, Gilliland was handed the reigns of Front Row Motorsports flagship #34 Ford. While the 2025 season, has not gone quite to plan lately, Indy was a massive shot in the arm for the team. Rolling off 19th, Gilliland ran a solid race and came home 6th.
The season started strong for the FRM driver, but the mid-summer swing of races has been a momentum killer. Indy may have flipped that switch for the team, as Gilliland’s best finish previously was a 10th in Martinsville.
#7 Justin Haley: Haley has struggled somewhat recently, as the #7 Spire team just has not been able to get up front. A knack for getting towards the front in big races, Haley showed up yet again. Following a 28th-place starting spot, Haley wheeled his Gainbridge-backed entry to an 11th place finish.
The 11th-place run was Haley’s third straight top fifteen finish, and best since a 10th way back at Homestead.
#78 Katherine Legge: Legge returned behind the wheel of B.J. McLeod’s #78 Chevrolet at Indy, and was perhaps one of the best surprised of the weekend. Besting her Chicago run by two positions, Legge brought her Chevrolet home in 17th (after starting 38th). Finishing ahead of pole-sitter Chase Briscoe, and three-time winner this season Shane Van Gisbergen.
Legge has a tremendous amount of experience at Indianapolis, having run the Indy 500 in 2012, 2013, 2023, and 2024.
