A late week edition of the FitStop Performance Power Rankings. For the second straight season, the NASCAR Cup Series raced on the traditional oval at Indianapolis. While it is a welcome site to see the Cup cars race, the actual competition leaves much to be desired. Lack of passing outside of the restarts left some fans frustrated. However, the strategy element of it is a redeeming quality. In the end, Bubba Wallace fought off the rain and Kyle Larson to snap his 100 race winless streak. Plus, this is Wallace’s first win during the regular season and locked himself into the playoffs. Did Wallace also lock himself into this week’s FitStop Performance 2025 Week 22 Power Rankings? Find out below to see what has changed from Week 21.

#10 – Alex Bowman

Previous Ranking: 10

A monster restart on the final is the difference between Alex Bowman being in the rankings and dropping out. From 18th to 9th in two laps, Bowman weaved through traffic to pick up his 12th Top-10 of the season. He needs to be careful though heading into Iowa; the honorable mentions are chomping at the bit to return into the rankings.

#9 – Christopher Bell

Previous Ranking: 9

Outside of his Top-10 finish, the most notable thing from the Brickyard 400 for Christopher Bell was wrecking Zane Smith. On the first overtime restart, Bell went to pull the crossover move on the 38. However, he mistimed the move and wound up spinning Smith out. An honest mistake that result in an ugly finish for the Front Row driver.

#8 – Chase Briscoe

Previous Ranking: 8

Chase Brisoce has been a machine at nabbing crown jewel poles. Briscoe made history becoming the first driver to win the pole for the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Brickyard 400. Place early bets now on the 19 leading the field to green for the Southern 500. Briscoe also picked up the Stage 1 win, grabbing a valuable playoff point.

#7 – Chris Buescher

Previous Ranking: 6

A familiar feeling for the 17 team turned up again in Indianapolis. Chris Buescher’s 14th place result was not indicative of how well the 17 ran. A Top-10 car all race, Buescher got shuffled back during the last 2 restarts. With the Bubba Wallace win, Buescher now sits as the last driver in on points for the playoffs.

#6 – Ryan Blaney

Previous Ranking: 7

Every member of the Team Penske/Wood Brothers quartet ran into some issue on Sunday. Both Austin Cindric and Joey Logano had tire issues while leading their strategies. Meanwhile, Josh Berry ran out of fuel on the final lap. As for Ryan Blaney, he managed to avoid the trouble. He picked up the Stage 2 win while finishing inside the Top-10.

#5 – Tyler Reddick

Previous Ranking: 4

Heading into the first overtime, Tyler Reddick decided to pit for fuel since he knew there would be more than one restart. On the positive side, he was correct. Unfortunately, he got caught up in the wreck that brought the field a second restart. The wreck sees Reddick pick up his first DNF of the season.

#4 – Kyle Larson

Previous Ranking: 5

After his nightmare 2024 attempt at the double, Kyle Larson won the Brickyard 400. This year’s nightmare almost saw a similar result. With two cracks at Bubba Wallace on restarts, Larson made a valiant effort to try to make the pass on the outside. Larson could not make it work, but he still finished second.

#3 – William Byron

Previous Ranking: 3

Fuel mileage has been an issue for the 24 team. Indianapolis marked the second race where Byron could not stretch his fuel as far as his competitors. Restarting third on the final overtime, Byron could not hold his position and coasting his way to a 16th place finish.

#2 – Chase Elliott

Previous Ranking: 1

Chase Elliott drops from the top spot after a mediocre performance at the Brickyard. Never gaining the necessary track position, Elliott sat in his usual teens spot throughout the race. On the bright side, Elliott continued his streak of Top-20s this season.

#1 – Denny Hamlin

Previous Ranking: 2

Back on top of the FitStop Performance mountain is Denny Hamlin. On Saturday, it did not seem to be a promising weekend for the 11 team. While the car was fast in practice, Hamlin overdrove it during qualifying and wrecked. Starting from the rear, Hamlin used strategy to move forward and be in contention late in the race. While he did not win, Hamlin did enough to move to the top spot this week in the Power Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Bubba Wallace – As mentioned in the introduction, Bubba Wallace’s win was a monumental one. However, he fell shy of entering the power rankings.

Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs won the battle of the Tys for the In-Season Challenge.

Ryan Preece – Despite being the worst RFK Racing car at Indy, Preece winds up with the best finish of the bunch with a 4th place finish.
