Kansas Speedway
This week, we head to Kansas Speedway, a racetrack that is a favorite of many drivers and fans. Could we see a NASCAR Playoffs spoiler win the race? It is quite possible! Josh Berry almost played spoiler at New Hampshire this past weekend. Toyota had a strong hold on the first round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, but will Ford be dominant again for a second weekend in a row? You will have to turn in on Sunday to find out!
Also, after a week off, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is back on track Saturday. Will Connor Zilisch be back to his winning ways, or will someone else find themselves in Victory Lane? Xfinity always puts on a great race, so be sure not to miss that!
Now, without further ado, here is what you came for – attractions and restaurants in Kansas City! I reached out to a few friends, one who lives in the city and another who frequents there quite often. They provided many great options to pass along to fans coming in town for the races. Honestly, now I want to go to Kansas City! I’ve always wanted to go to Kansas Speedway for a race weekend, so it might happen sooner rather than later.
Attractions
If you want an all-in-one place, check out the Power and Light District in downtown. There are over 50 bars, restaurants, and shops!

You could spend a whole day there and have plenty to do. Perk: a huge part of it is enclosed, so the weather won’t affect your plans.
Nearby is the College Basketball Experience. Here is where you can be “in the game.” You can try your hand at every skill of the game through various activities, as well as sit down at a mock ESPN desk and call the game yourself.

The Experience also houses the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. FYI – it is only open Thursday-Sunday, so plan accordingly!
Country Club Plaza is a historic open-air shopping and dining destination. Established in 1922, the Plaza stretches 15 blocks with Spanish-inspired architecture. If you are looking for higher-end shopping, check this place out.
For the history or war enthusiasts, there is something special in Kansas City – The National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Restaurants
Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que is the best if you want to go to hog heaven. They have multiple locations, and the menu looks amazing. If you go, report back with your review!

Jack Stack Barbecue also came highly recommended. One person told me they have great burnt ends, and another told me they have great salmon. They do serve more than barbecue if that’s not your thing.
Chicken N Pickle is a cool spot with a chicken-heavy menu where you can also play pickleball! You might want to save the food until after you play, just a thought.
In the mood for something a bit different, check out Chez Elle Creperie and Coffeehouse. This French-themed coffeehouse has savory and sweet crepes on its menu to enjoy along with a cup of your favorite coffee.
