Last week at Atlanta we saw another bit of drafting knowledge come to Tyler Reddick down the stretch as he became the first driver to win the first 2 Cup races in a season since Matt Kenseth in 2009. Next up we head to a more traditional type of track, but not traditional in terms of NASCAR as we head to the season’s first Road Course, COTA. Down below you will find different statistics from all of the NASCAR Cup races here at Circuit of The Amercias ranging from Most Wins to Best Average Finishes by starting position. So read and enjoy these fun fact track stats!
In this post you will only find all-time stats, if you are looking for only active drivers stats or Next Gen stats check out my next article Active/Next Gen Cup Track Stats: COTA.
Active Drivers will be highlighted like so
Active means any driver who started a race in the 2026 Cup Series season.

Chase Elliott 05/23/2021

Most Recent Winner: Christopher Bell 03/02/2025
Worst Starting Positions by Winner

3 2021-14 8 Chase Elliott
4 2023-06 2 Tyler Reddick
5 2024-06 1 William Byron

Last year Christopher Bell started 19th before winning the race, which gives him the record for worst COTA starting position by the eventual winner.

No Pole winner has finished out of the Top 10, so if you want a good finish this weekend it’s good to win the Pole.

No driver has swept both stages at COTA, in fact only 1 of the 5 winners here has even won a stage in the race they won (Tyler Reddick, Stage 2, 2023).

If you want to win this weekend then either lead a lot of laps, or not many at all as 4 of the 5 winners here have either lead more than half the race, or less than 10%.

Leading a lot of laps at COTA is usually a sign that a good finish is coming as only one of the 10 drivers in the table above finished out of the Top 10, and over half finished in the Top 5.
