Las Vegas Motor Speedway set the stage for the Pennzoil 400, but who would claim the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race? (Photo Credit: Las Vegas Motor Speedway | X)

Pennzoil 400

Before teams settled in on the East Coast, they needed to tackle Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Christopher Bell secured the pole, surrounded by a torrent of Toyotas.

It only took three laps for Denny Hamlin to steal the lead from his teammate. After green flag stops, Hamlin resumed the lead.

However, with 11 to go, Bell was back to battle for his original position. He claimed it and the stage win.

Bell started the second stage in the P1 spot, but within a lap, Kyle Larson was knocking on his door. Lap 14 of the stage saw a four-way battle between Larson, Bell, Hamlin, and Chase Elliott. A lap later, Tyler Reddick wanted in on the action. But ultimately, Larson pulled away with the lead. He maintained the lead, but as the stage came to a close, Byron closed in on the No. 5 and eventually took the lead and the stage win.

The final stage saw Hamlin take the lead on Lap 185 and set sail. That is, until the caution waved on Lap 216. At the restart, Bell was leading, but Hamlin quickly reclaimed it. And with a clean finish, the No. 11 secured the win.

Rich MARvelous Move of the Race

On Lap 84, during the caution following the opening stage, Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs both were caught speeding on pit road.

This sent them to the rear of the field.

That wasn’t the MARvelous part, though.

By Lap 119, they had both worked back into the top 15. Then, throughout the remainder of the race, these two drivers battled back.

Ultimately, Hamlin scored the win, and Gibbs claimed a top-five finish.
