Stephen Mallozzi is a 21 year old racer from New Jersey. He competes part time in the Camping World Truck Series for Reaume Brothers Racing.
What is your favorite track to race on? (Any series) My favorite track has been New Jersey Motorsports 1.3 mile kart track, Tempest. It is unbelievably fun to drive, and is right in my backyard.
What is your most memorable moment in your racing career? Easily Mid-Ohio. Think that has to be it. To leave the sport for four years and come back to make my NASCAR debut was a surreal experience.
Do you have a pre-race routine? If so, what is it? Nope. Every race is different. My dad and I have a post-race tradition of going to Outback Steakhouse though!
Is there another driver that you look up to or consider an inspiration? Michael McDowell. His path through motorsports, with a long grind career is the only path for success I see for myself. It’s a long road, but if I end up with a Cup victory like him it would be more than worth it.
You are about to graduate from the University of Virginia, What is next? If I knew, I’d tell you.
What is one goal that you have set for your racing career? The one goal I set was to make my NASCAR debut with my dad around to see it. But now that that has happened, I’d say my next goal would be a national series start at Daytona.
If you could choose to race in any series full time, which series would it be and why? Shockingly, it would be Xfinity. The cars seem like the most fun to drive and the racing is awesome week in and week out. I’d want the kinks in the Cup car to be worked out before racing full time (obviously, that’s wishful thinking though).
You were born in New Jersey, do you have a Jersey accent? Some people say yes, some people say no. People say they can tell I am from the “North”. But definitely not a Jersey Shore type accent, it is more of a Philadelphia accent than anything.
