Welcome, in this article series we will be reviewing and rating how each driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series has done in the 2023 season (min. 10 races started). Each part will contain 3-4 drivers and have them grouped by organization/satellite team or truck manufacturer/future manufacturer teammate as best as possible. The review will include the drivers 2023 season statistics, along with ranks among drivers in 2023 with season ranking since the Playoffs started in 2016. We will also highlight playoff stats, notable streaks accomplished through the year, 2023 Short track (under 1 mile), Small track (1-1.3 mile), intermediate (1.3-1.5 mile), Big track (2-2.5 mile), Road Course, Superspeedway (drafting tracks), and Dirt track statistics. I will grade each section and give a brief reason why, then give a short overview ending with an overall grade A+ thru F- based on a weighted formula from the grades above. To sum up each team, at the end of their last driver I will give an overall team grade based on the grades for each driver. All grades may take into account underfunded/well-funded trucks and experience.

He got 4 wins this year, but not many more Top 3’s. However, he had a lot of Top 5’s that helped his grade, but he didn’t do well enough in in-race stats to get an A+.

He was one of two drivers to finish Top 10 in all 14 stages. Overall, his stats are great. In fact the only stat that made me consider not giving him an A+ was the fact he had only 5 Top 10’s, but he still gets one because everything is so good.

The only thing bad about his stats is the fact he finished 1 race out of the Top 10, but that was a DNF. Everything else is just incredible, I mean 5 Top 5’s in 8 races. So, he gets an A+.

Overview
– After an unfortunate incident at Phoenix Hocevar’s breakout year ended him 3rd in points
– The only 2023 stats for Hocevar that aren’t good are his Completed Laps%, 0 Poles, and 4 DNF’s
– He was one of the best drivers in the playoffs, running very well and usually finishing Top 5
– The only streak he had was a 5 straight Top 5 finish streak
– One of his better tracks were Short tracks run 95% of his laps in the Top 15 and finishing all but one race in the Top 5
– Small tracks weren’t bad for him as 2 of the 3 races he finished Top 5 and the other he got wrecked
– Intermediates were the best tracks for Hocevar finishing 62.5% of the races in the Top 5 and running great
– In the one Big track race he ran well but finished just out of the Top 10
– He was awful on Road Courses running barely any laps in the Top 15 and getting 0 Stage Pts
– His best finish on Superspeedways was 11th, but his in-races stats aren’t bad
– He wasn’t great at the Dirt track race, finishing out of the Top 15

This is just bad for being in tier 1 equipment. However, this is just his 2nd full-time season and he had 1 Top 10 with 9 Stage Pts which is why he gets an F+ instead of F.

His Avg. Finish and the fact he had 3 Top 5’s in just 11 races is really impressive, but he only had 3 Stage T10’s with an unimpressive Laps in Top 15%. So, some good finishes with subpar runs equals C.
